You can't Tamer unless you avoid people and lock yourself away. But is that worth it? All you can do is try and stay away from people who show obvious symptoms of colds or flu. You should also have a rescue pack (antibiotics and/or steriods) and take them at the first sign of infection if you can't get to see a doctor straightaway or at the weekends.

Tamer it's good to keep washing your hands and carry an anti-bacterial spray always, also keep cleaning your nose and try not to rub your eyes, get your yearly flu-jab as soon as you can, all the best, huff x

Try using Boots 1st Defence Spray.....that is supposed to keep germs at bay - I have heard it recommended many times on this site, so I went out and got a couple for myself! Good luck :)

You cant!!! But you can take lots of vitamin C which is really good for your immune system, you can wash you hands masses (or use anti baterial gel), I make the kids put all tissues in a bin immediately!! First Defence is supposed to be fantastic - keep that to hand. Get a flu jab and a pneumonia jab. You cant do much more than that!! Take good care, TAD xx

Hi I often read your posts as they are so helpful. Can you tell me when to use the first defence spray as I have brought some but not sure if to use it everyday or wait until I feel a cold coming on or is that to late

Hi, I have been recommended that VICK'S First Defence spray is the one to use rather than Boots- but I guess personal choice?. I use it when I go into high danger environments (such as crowds, shopping, buses, schools etc). Spray 1-2 sprays into each nostril. Re-apply if needed maybe every 4-8 hours. Also, use immediately when you feel like a cold comes on as it is said to help shorten and drop severity of cold. I have been using for a few months now and have not had a cold.... everything crossed.... Good luck, xxxx

There is two things you can do. First you must have the flu vaccine as soon as your doctor has them in. Then ask the children's mother to have the flu vaccine herself as it helps protect you. The children can now also have their own flu vaccine. This is not an injection as adults have but something that is puffed up the nose. I am told the children usually laugh as it tickles a bit. That way you will all be protected from flu. Colds you can do little about. If you get a cold. And we all do sometimes. Take you steroids and antibiotics if needed. I also take an inexpensive supplement of vitamin D to keep my resistance up a bit. Hope this helps.

I take a pro-biotic drink every morning my colds have dropped loads since. As said earlier get the flu jab. Hand hygiene for all is a good way to keep it down for all the family.
