Hello Carole,

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒž

I have an exacerbation, started the rescue antibiotics and respiratory physio today, I donโ€™t cope well in all this air conditioning. Anyway I struggled last week and thought take the tablets girl it is not going away, I phoned in the GP this morning, I am to increase pred to 20mg a day for 7 days as well.

So Im watching football like Aria today! Left Mum fending for herself poor thing. She has been down so Im staying on wondering if I will get a direct train back.

Wishing you and your husband well xx

Iโ€™m off to my gps soon - I too have a chest infection and need his advice. Do I start my rescue pack - amoxicillin andcsteroids, or do I go back on my prophylactic antibiotic, azithromycin, which lung dr told me stop four weeks ago because โ€˜people donโ€™t get chest infections in the summer!โ€™

in reply to helenlw7

Hi Helen ๐Ÿ˜Š

Maybe he doesnโ€™t get infections in summer..๐Ÿ˜ƒ what a silly remark..less viruses I suppose well different ones not triggered by cold weather but we have allergies, sudden changes in temperature..

Yes get to your GP soon and/or phone the BLF helpline..I suppose you will have to treat your infection first with rescue meds then get back to your azithromycin.

Now the local consultant wanted me to get on those but the LAM consultant said not necessary, still Im getting more chest infections lately, I wonder if I give it a try this autumn. Im already on daily steroids, are you? I canโ€™t remember..it is just a lot of meds for my digestive system..

How do you get on with the azithromycin? I hate the clarithromycin of the same family.

I have two boxes of azithromycin in my travel bag, 3 sachets of 500mg a day per box so 6 days worth..I am supposed to take them if the first lot of Pyostacin doesnโ€™t work.

All this medicine self-management is a headache..

Hope you feel better soon xx

The hardest thing I find is deciding whether or not I need to start my rescu pack, also Iโ€™m not feeling good at the moment because my biologic RA being changed for a cheaper biosimilar! I saw my gp. I get on very well with him and his first words were โ€˜you look awful!โ€™ So he took my temperature- 39.2, my sats - 97% and my blood pressure which was normal for me. He saw that I was breathing quite quickly and my heart rate was fast. He sounded my chest, said yes I had an infection. He put all the data in his computer and said โ€˜you know what Iโ€™m going to say now, donโ€™t you.โ€™ I knew he was going to say a and e because Iโ€™ve been in the same position a few times before. He told me to look at his screen and it said red alert sepsis which was very scary. Anyway he decided that as my sats and blood pressure were ok, and he knew I was sensible and would take myself there if I got worse - we only live about a mile away. So Iโ€™ve started my rescue pack antibiotics and steroids and I have to see him on Thursday morning. If Iโ€™d started them on Saturday when I felt a bit rough but hadnโ€™t started coughing I might have saved all this!

I have an appointment with the lung man in two weeks and I will be discussing this antibiotic holiday! Iโ€™m fine on the Azithromycin and Iโ€™m on 7.5mg of steroids a day, the lowest dose Iโ€™ve managed to get down to. Iโ€™ll be hyper for the next week on 30mg a day!

in reply to helenlw7

Wow that temperature was very high Helen!!! How brave you are!! Please keep a thermometer at home from now on! Glad you have a caring GP. It makes all the difference ๐Ÿ˜Š

I have the same problem with self-management, I should have started them on Friday. If it wasnโ€™t for the physio saying Fran this sputum means you have a chest infection.. I always feel sort of guilty..as well as hopeful that I can get rid of it without, well I donโ€™t anymore.

Iโ€™m on 30mg pred for 3 days and supposed to get down to 20mg and so on. I have been on higher pred non stop since the eye ops, it is going to take me ages to get back to my 7.5mg.

Good to know about the azithromycin. Is it 250mg 3x a week? If I may bother you again. Donโ€™t answer tonight just rest and drink plenty of fluids!!!

I met a nice young lady doctor in the lift this evening at Mumโ€™s care home, we chatted and she gave me her details. She said to come and see her if I need to. I may well take her up on it if I get anymore rashes with this antibiotic.

Let us know how you are getting on wonโ€™t you?

Wishing you much better xx

Fran

We do have two thermometers, and one needed a new battery, and the other was reading 36 degrees so I thought it was ok. My temperature always reads below normal but my eyeballs feel as if they are burning if I have a temperature but they felt ok this morning! Iโ€™ve just ordered a new one from Amazon!

I also think I can get rid of things without more medication. I have 22 different medications on my repeat list, plus one that I inject. Iโ€™ll never learn!

I am on 250mg Azithromycin three times a week.

Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll feel better once the antibiotics and steroids have kicked in. Mind you I canโ€™t start the steroids until tomorrow morning otherwise Iโ€™ll be dancing the night away! I am drinking plenty - I always do in this weather.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. ๐ŸŒท

Yes get a good one, the ear one is supposed to be the best but I have a simple digital one I put under my tongue.

Sounds like you need a med review..

Just antibiotics keep me awake I donโ€™t know why they have always done..Im taking herbal tea and bromazepam at night these days I need my beauty sleep!

Have a good restful night Helen ๐Ÿ’ค๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’

Muy Buenas Dias Carino, Soy Bien. maybe because of the Temperature here, I have been a little sob than after my op. I probably try to do too much, forget I'm no longer as young and having this Dam Disease. We plod on though as we must. I go to see my Consultant on 11th July for X Ray & Lung Function. I look forward to my daughter coming over in August to Join in the Festivities of my Hubby's 50th Birthday Party and to Celebrate our 2nd Great Grandchild , which we were told of last week, Me & Hubby have 5 Grandchildren & almost 2 Great Grandchildren , of Course I'm 17 years older, I don't feel it, (I lie, sometimes I feel 100) Ha Ha. Bien, me voy en el Ducha, con agua frio , pienso, Abrazos y Besitos a Ti y Bea Y tu madre, y Aria XXXXXX
