How to fight a cold?

I’m nursing a really bad cough. Nebulizer treatments, cough drops and steroids. Will cardio help or hinder at this time? My mom thinks I need to rest bc I have so little energy but I feel I need to keep exercising to fight back this cold. Any recommendations?

Hi Bobbi6

This is a classic case of ‘listen to your body’.( and your Mum). If you have a temperature it is better that you rest and drink plenty of fluids until your body has had chance to see the virus off. Otherwise you could open yourself up to a secondary bacterial infection.

When you are over the worst do a little gentle exercise just to get everything moving but don’t tire yourself out. Then slowly work back up to your normal exercise.

Do remember not to take these germs out to donate to others as somebody kindly gave them to you.

I hope that you will be feeling fine again before Christmas.

Littletom It’s funny how I didn’t even think about I’d be spreading germs. I certainly don’t want to do that thank you!

I would say rest, if you can manage a little walk then try it but don't go to far,I ended up I. hospital a few weeks ago with a bad chest infection, if you start feeling really poorly ring an ambulance xx

Hi Bobbi6 .

I definitely recommend rest and plenty of it until you feel better and the cough decreases.

I hope you feel better soon.

An old saying here: feed a cold, starve a fever. I find if I lose my appetite as well as feeling awful then it's usually an infection.

If it's a cold, plenty of fluids and loads of extra vitamin c is my go to. If I've a tickle in the throat then it's an antiseptic throat spray to kill any germs befor the reach lower airways.

Get well soon. P
