I'm not coping well. Feel like a washed out rag. Hope not everyone feels like me. My temper is also a little naughty.

I am sorry to say that the hot weather has never been my best time. :(

Be Well

We are more vulnerable to heat ... found that out this week! Everything to keep me cooler now around me. Including bowl of water for feet.

Decided yesterday that I couldn't get any hotter if I actually did something. I was nearly right, I did something but I could get hotter! A molten puddle of Dozy went to bed last night and the endorphins kicked in overnight D :) x yay............

I love it if I can just chill with nothing to do.

Same here Polly. I'm doing a lot of chilling this week after several hectic weeks of too much action/driving/functions/babies waking all night.

Lovely to just BE!

I much prefer the summer with long days of light. Much better for me.

I've even weaned myself down to Seretide 125 - from 500. It's taken months but very happy about it. Even the foot cramps have gone. Yippie.

One good thing about polluted London is that you can shop late when it's cooler.

Me to lazy days, and trying everything to keep cool. How do you get lower seritide? I'm on 250 and wondered if I could reduce it but my doc. sticks to what the cons says. Also does the seretide cause your muscle cramps? Keep cool barnowl

Hi, well I started off on 125 and it went up and up until last December when I had an infection my GP told me to take 500 for the duration of the winter. Previous to that I often had to take 2x250 during exacerbations. When I'm well though it's like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Between my GP & respiratory nurse we've worked out what works best for me. I've learnt to listen to how it feels. For ie the last few days I've felt really tired since getting back to 125. I believe it's because breathings not so great at night, last night I took the 250 and feel more lively this morning :)

My reduction was worked out with nurse by dropping by 125 each AM for a month then both am & pm for a month then another 125 am for a month etc.

It means when faced with a long flight of stars I'll have a puff of blue Salamol Easi-Breathe. I prefer this to taking high doses of steroids if they aren't necessary

I'm lucky, have mod asthma & mild copd, a different animal in the winter though.

Have a lovely day wherever you are :)

Hi peeg, so glad you are feeling well this morning. Many thanks for your explicit reply. It is lovely to hear you are able to take control, with the help of your nurse. I only see the nurse for the spirometry test. My latest reading was 108% Her comment was the medicine must be working for you! I do have emphysema and bronhs so cons. has explained that the spirometer cannot allow for emphysema so the results are worthless. What a waste of time and money! I think I will have a chat with my consultant about reducing meication next time I see him. Like you if poss. I would like to reduce my steroid intake. Lovely talking to you and enjoy the sunshine

You too :) I must add that I would never recommend anyone to reduce without medical guidance - just in case anyone's thinking of it! X

Quite agree, but don't worry, l'm sure no-one reading on this site would be so careless

This current heat is a little too much we are not used to such high temperatures , plays havoc with the breathing. But hey ho we have to get on with life make adjustments drink more water (smiles), then in the cold weather wrap up to stave off infections.

Hi jeanlock finding early and late in the day the best times to do whatever housework I need and give in to doors open curtains closed! I also use a fan to make a slight movement in the air. Coldish showers help too. I'm lucky I retired from full time work recently. Good luck for the next few days

Just had thunder here in south east Cornwall - but not one drop of rain to go with it :( I can put up with the hot days by doing all the 'right things', but I find these 20' degree nightime temperatures an absolute sweat dripping nightmare!

I too love the weather but it doesn't like me very much. Not sure what I've done...lol. Anyway, I realised how much it affected me when last Friday was the hottest day, I think in London and I found it hard to breathe. I went into three different shops and each had the air con on full blast and this affected me badly with my breathing also. So it wasn't a good day for me, consequently I was ill over the weekend...not a happy bunny. I bounced back and like others, I now try to shop in the cooler parts of the day. I still loving it though. The worse thing is because I have perennial hayfever with asthma as well as COPD, too hot and too cold is bad for me. I'm not going to win am I?

Hey ho, onwards and upwards.

Have a good day all

I am in southern Spain and the temp this year is the highest since we have been here, 11 years, and is set to rise even higher, talk of the middle 40's. I am not coping too well with it as it is.

I rather depends on where you are. Here on the North East coast it is about 70F/20C , which is very pleasant weather.

Great getting the work done nealy finished so I can not complain

I'm struggling in this heat although I realise we shouldn't gripe about it after the dreadful winter we just had. I try to get things done in the early morning and late evening as I suppose they do in hot countries and we have a fan on continually in our living area and another one on all night in outr bedroom. I certainly don't need as many calories so meals are pretty light affairs and I try to keep water cooling continually in our fridge. I don't go out at all in the hottest hours staying in the coolest place in the house and reading book after book on my Kindle. The garden is cooling after about six so that's become my favourite spot at that time of day. We tend to grumble but give me this heat to dark, murky winter any time.

Not at all, just spend all my time trying to get cool, trying to breathe and with no energy to do anything else; am also just going down with a flare up so feel like ****. Many, many, years ago I tried Yoga and was told the mind can control body temperature - well it definitely doesn't work!

Keep cool everyone,

Emmo

The warm weather is great for me it's the blummin pollen that gets to me. I do hope that it will get better in August when the grass pollen season finishes. Antihistomin and steroid nasal spray every morning helps a bit. PTxx

oh the hell of heat !!!

it never occurred to me that nice weather would become my enemy.....all through the winter i just kept thinking of the summer and how it would help my breathing and everyone else was saying the same thing....

I cant believe how bad it is when its hot outside you feel like all the air has gone...looks like i wont be emigrating to the Bahamas
