Hi I had one it was brilliant but it lasted 13 months only and that was with cleaning the scale out regularly too!

You won't go far wrong with a Karcher one

Hi Sue,

Where do you live? I have one that you can have if you want it? Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer to get down on my knees and do it ( no witty comments please lol.)

Ah well.... it was nice of you to offer it to the group...take care.

Just googled this they sell the Karcher ones in Tesco - £119.00. Argos do one for £39.00 which cleans carpets as well and can be converted to a hand steamer. x

I have a Thane which came highly recommended by someone who uses it all the time and isn't too well much of the time.

They're usually £99 but I got mine for £79 you can also opt to pay in three instalments with no interst. Look at the site and read the reviews. Peeg

I just brought my daughter a karcher she did a lot of research and that one came out the best but it does take 8 minuets to heat up I'm thinking of getting one.

Mine only takes a minute to heat. It's a Home Tek Steam Mop. it's very light, and I think I paid £75 for it. I don't use it every day, But, as I said, I cleaned my carpet after the chimney sweep had been! had to use a bit of vinegar on the big stains.

Does vinegar get rid of stains ? this site gets more like Google loads of information.

Vinegar takes stains off carpets, underpants and clothes. If the stain is really bad, let it soak in vinegar for a bit and then wash as normal, I also put some soda crystals in the wash to destain and it softens the hard water too. By the way, use white vinegar rather than the brewed brown one!

In fact you can use some diluted in water soda crystals for your carpet too - not too much in a basin of hot water.

I use a Steam cleaner Vax. They want you to use deionised water or distilled water. I did this once when a chap came to clean my chimney. He said he would be careful, but my carpet was grey all over. I put some vinegar on the more prominent stains and used the steam cleaner. It's much better, not gone altogether, but much better.

I don't use this steamer very often. I have steamed teh kitchen floor regularly. But now I use an Ecloth - microfibre mophead that can be removed from the handle to clean it. This is brilliant as one only use it with hot water. Again, I may use some vinegar on harder stains. This device is easier than a steam cleaner, because it's lighter and you only use hot water from the tap.

Not what you're looking for?
