ive was diagnosed on thursday with mild copd,,im bit of a cleaning freak with bleach and sprays ect how do i get around this as surely it
I am afraid certain chemicals can cause problems. I used a drain cleaner at my mothers and nearly keeled over once I lost my breath. I do use bleach to and do it in stages now as it does affect me.
Got this link that I would not get to involved in but interesting reading.

Be Well
hi flower89 strong chemicals will affect your breathing however you may find the masks that builders and decorators sometime use are helpful i cannot use oven cleaners bleach i loved the smell off has it was so fresh and clean however i now use concentrated disinfectant instead of bleach you may find this a little helpful
I've just invested in one of these - no bleach or cleaning agents required:

Tesco Direct have a deal on at the moment only £80 and if you have store vouchers it could bring the price down even lower.
Or £60 on Ebay.
Hi fowers89,
I suffer from Bronchiectasis and asthma and for many years have had problems with perfumes and chemicals and even things like coffee brewing, curry cooking etc. I cut out all fine sprays because the mist they create, spreads in the air quickly, no aerosol deodorants(I use block sticks) and now have 1 furniture cleaner which comes in a squeeze bottle. For the kitchen I use Dettol wipes for the counter tops and a recipe for a homemade floor cleaner (from Pinterest - just type in home made cleaners and loads of recipe's come up). I use one with white vinegar, small amount of washing up liquid and baking soda). I still use bleach for loos and dishcloths but only when I am not going to have to be near them. I am trying to change to all natural products my next one will be for furniture cleaner. Hope this of some help.
Regards,
Sue
thanks sue ,,i use aerosal deoderent ,but hold my breath then run out of the room quick lol,,im a bit of a bleach fanatic will have to try natural products too,x
