Has anyone else been asked to fill in a questionnaire on line for their asthma review? I'm not sure if it's one that is unique to Scotland but it only seems to be able to cope with someone having only one preventer preventer inhaler - and I'm on two Luforbec and Spiriva (plus Fexofenadine, Montelucast and Salamol) I've given up with this form!! The receptionist is going to talk to the asthma nurse about it and hopefully someone will get back to me. It just seems such an inflexible form - no space for free text eg I wanted to say that I don't use my reliever very often because I don't feel that it helps me. Who knows what the rest of the form asks and what problems I might have filling it in!! Into the bargain, the nurse probably wouldn't do anything even if I saw her face to face as I'm seeing a consultant (privately) to see if we can find out why I'm so breathless.

Hi, my asthma review has always been face to face with nurse or GP.
I filled in a review on line or my meds would be stopped quite rude firm but I always see asthma nurse face to face and never rushed she is quire good. I've just changed from Seretide 125 to Symbicort 200/6 just wondered if anyone else is on Symbicort what there experience is I have a constant productive cough since a cold in Dec 24 with clear or white sputum it's exhausting. Any advice I read thst 2 people shed hair on top of head on this drug imnst a loss as it early days but affecting my tummy . Any advier welcome thank you.
I'm in the SW of England and my review for asthma is an online form and has been for a couple of years. It's pretty useless too. I've not been called in for a face to face for a long time, but I also have bronchiectasis and I'm permanently under the consultants care so I think they leave my medication to him.
I did see the asthma nurse when I knew my inhaler needed changing a while back, but again she seemed to be using a tick box form to work out what to prescribe, it was unsettling but the inhaler prescribed worked and I wish I'd requested an appointment sooner.
Last year I had just started to see a consultant just before my face to face review and the nurse only took my weight and BP since I was seeing a consultant. I don't know what else I have (lung wise) as it has been a process of elimination over the past 11 months (no bronchiectasis). The only thing that has shown up is that I'm allergic to Aspergillus Niger (black mould) which is everywhere. Unfortunately he couldn't prescribe the appropriate medication because of one of my heart conditions - hence trying out Fexofenadine.
Are you talking about the asthma control questionnaire? The one where they ask you five questions like if you woke up at night in the past month etc? I am a patient co-chair of a severe asthma group and flagged your point above about there not being open-ended responses as a problem as I think that's great insight. We're discussing the pros and cons of current questionnaires at a conference next month and I will bring this up!
I think so. It does ask these questions. However they don't take account of other reasons that may wake me up eg back pain, tinnitus, needing the loo - it's difficult to know what has woken me up!! Other questions that I remember are regarding how often you get breathlessness, how often breathlessness affects you day to day. I haven't finished filling it in as I'm waiting a few days to see if a nurse phones me back. It gives me a choice of inhalers to tick but if you tick a second one it deletes the first one. You can't say two puffs of Luforbec twice a day and one of Spiriva a day. I don't know if the form asks the question "Do you cough through the night?" This is a difficult one for someone living on their own to answer - my answer has always been "I don't know". Thanks for bringing it up at the conference.
When I had my first asthma review, some years ago, it was with the GP. Then I had some with an asthma nurse, then a general nurse. Then they decided a nursing assistant could do it.
If course, if the reviews not done then it can be difficult to get repeats. The nursing assistant used to get me to do a peak flow - a one off is useless unless the person is struggling at the time. I never let her see my inhaler technique. Pointless, they have no idea. Hugely condescending anyhow!!!
I can't wait until they give me a form. I suspect they'll get very suspicious, contradicting boxes ticked 🤣🤣🤣

Just another tick box exercise :>(My diabetes review is with hca.shes really thorough; the "diabetes" nurse is supposed to ring with bloodtest results - she never does.i agree Ts777 😒. We even have a nurse Co ordinater.had 1 appointment with her to tell me she's the go between to keep care continuity between consultant + gp practise..never heard frm her since.she queried something at the time,said she wld get back to me- she didn't.its no wonder we get disillusioned x

So far none online but since Covid they have all been over the phone, which is usually more of a waste of time than the face to face. Just ticking boxes.
My hospital respiratory team always use a questionnaire at every visit. It's designed to capture any patterns and anomalies of symptoms, especially over time and builds a picture of improvement or decline. My asthma nurse has started sending a questionnaire, digitally, before my face to face review but it has fewer questions. We discussed my responses at the review. But she's quite thorough anyway. I know she's left, so I'll be seeing a new AN this year - she has large shoes to fill.

I get 4-5 paper questionnaires before my tertiary review…. which is a good job as I haven’t had a GP review for many many years!😂
Tbh though I’m very glad as they are generally just tick box exercises carried out by an HCA.

I think they will try and do the on-line instead of an actual face to face review as they tried with me, I filled in the form as you mentioned there nowhere to fill the form with the right information, so I demanded a face and luckily they obliged.I hope this helps
See the reply from hilary39 re the form. I'm so glad that there is someone on this forum who has the potential to influence the content of this form. Here's hoping that the form is improved if the NHS is going to continue with it. Forms have to be fit for purpose. In my current circumstances, I think that a telephone appointment would suffice as my consultant is trying to get to the bottom of what's going on with my lungs.
