I caught COVID for the first time late last year & haven't really recovered. My respiratory team are brilliant & trying new inhalers to see if it helps. I will be able to trial a nebuliser if the new inhalers don't help. If all else fails I will be on oxygen which I would rather not have to be honest. Really short of breath doing just the simplest of things at the moment.

HiExactly the same happened with me. Got Covid in June 2022 and my control of Asthma went pear shaped. I had 9 months of Steroids and was contacted by NHS and highlighted with weakened immune system.

My turning point was my excellent Asthma Nurse (she's looked after me for about 18 years now) put me on Forstair 200/6 on the Mart programme.

Other than being very ill in January this year with a severe lung infection, so 2 lots of Steroids and antibiotics, my asthma has been controlled; I even seem to be more resilient to the triggers of cheap perfumes and aftershaves which is a bonus as I work with the public.

It's a good feeling to see my abandoned salbutomol inhalers in a drawer, I am hoping this keeps up although am aware Spring is coming so have already started my antihistamine. Fingers crossed for the future.

I hope you are able to get passed this as well Vegan8835 and feel better soon.

I've had exactly the same experience. Mild intermittent asthma for over 30 years, then caught Covid in Aug of 2022. My lungs have been more or less inflamed since then. I guess the Covid caused damage. Literally, I've had less than 1 healthy month since then.

I had occasional asthma (undiagnosed) for decades, then had Covid early 2020 and ended up with permanent breathing problems which never went away. Finally diagnosed with asthma at the end of 2021 and now on daily steroid inhaler. Doctor says Covid probably made my lungs more sensitive which pushed the asthma from being a few-times-a-year issue to a constant one.
