Hi all didn't take long for me to pick up a cold I work with kids. Yesterday I woke up with a cold and my asthma flaring up. Struggled through work with salamol. Took my rescue steriods last evening and this morning. No work today and resting at home. Salamol at regular intervals. Feel wiped out, no energy. Unfortunately I work through an agency so no work no pay.

Cold in September
As much as it is not ideal that you won’t be getting paid while not working the main thing is that you’re looking after yourself!
Hope you feel better soon.
Hope meds soon work.u can buy nose+ throat sprays to help neutralise/ block viruses eg coldeze
Very sorry to hear it elanoali, back to school and all the bugs come out for a party. I use antiseptic throat spray to stop the bu**ers descending to chest plus copious effervescent vitamin C. Both save me many a time. Hope it isn't too bad and that you feel well soon
Yep... back to work and school and the colds are back too! I seem to have got away with just a mild cold but my son has had a very wheezy/chesty week. I hope you're feeling better soon!
Thanks for all your kind words and advice. Felt a bit sheepish when I went to the doctors on Friday (just to make sure I was on the mend) and realised that I hadn't been taking the full dose of rescue steriods. I been taking a child's dose of 25g not 40g.The doctors kindly pointed out that I had looked at the packaging of the steriods and saw 5 days meaning 5 tablets. Anyway advice to take 3 more tablets yesterday afternoon after the appointment to make up last dose. It did keep me awake longer than I wanted at 🛌. Advice to finish my 5 day course yesterday and today. Extra steriods are making me feel a but high. Use salamol every 4 hours didn't go swimming as I feel still tired.
On the flip side had my covid and flu jab at my doctors. Covid arm is quite sore.
Ready to tackle work again next week.
