Dry Power Inhaler Problems

I was diagnosed in June & prescribed Relvar Ellipta 92/22. Around week two I started experiencing sinus/rhinitis symptoms. At my review they change me to Fostair NEXTHALER 100/6 which has made the sinus issues worse & I have completely lost my sense of smell & I mean completely not even bleach or perfume. I talked to the asthma nurse today & she suggested I try using Fostair 100/6 pressurised pump inhaler. Interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience with dry powder inhalers.

All my inhalers Relvar, sabutamoland, braltas are all dry. Can't say I have had any problem with them .

I've been on Fostair 110/6 and 200/6 both dry powder for about 10 years and not noticed this problem, maybe try the pump and see what happens 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi, I cannot use powdered inhalers they coat my throat before hitting the lung airways.I use Fostair 100/6 with a spacer. Using a spacer ensures you get at least 50% more of the medication than when not using one. It's also a licensed MART inhaler. You can use more or less as needed. I only need ventolin/ salamol when having a strong exacerbation. Look up the MART regime and read the leaflet thoroughly. I find it fantastic. P

Thank you, I started using the pump Fostair, with a spacer & face mask last night. I slept ok & manage a visit to the dentist this morning. So far so good except for a bad headache 🤕

PS My asthma nurse did give me advice on using the Fostair as a reliever but thanks for your advice - this is day 57 of diagnosis & using inhalers for me.

I've been on relvar for years and other dry powder inhalers and no it hasn't cause any sinus issues. But depending on the type of asthma you have you may get sinus issues seperately - I have e-athma and have sinus issues which I get a spray for now. It works wonders for it. I got it from the GP the spray rather than the asthma nurse.
