I have asthma and take Fostair 100/6 two puffs twice a day, ventolin as needed and montelukast at night. Is this classed as being vulnerable and having to stay in for the 12 weeks.

Help about I need to social distance or shield
If you get the flu jab each year you are classed as vulnerable so best to stay in however you may not be classed as severe for the shielding project.
I also take the fostairnexthaler same Doses as yourself. I have he flu jab and I’m self isolating. Take care. Anita x
Just read if you’re taking montelukast you’re on the shielding list of medicines. Best to check with your doctor.
Thank you, I have silent asthma and have been having a course of steroids and antibiotics every month for the 17months.
Hi
The below is taken from the Asthma UK Website (in quote marks), asthma.org.uk/advice/trigge... :
"The current high risk groups are adults and children who are taking:
Any biologic therapy, also called a mAb (Xolair/omalizumab, Nucala/mepolizumab, Cinqaero/reslizumab, Fasenra/benralizumab)
Steroid tablets or liquid every day
Antibiotic tablets or liquid for asthma every week (e.g. azithromycin)
Tiotropium
A combination inhaler that also contains a long-acting bronchodilator (e.g. Seretide, Fostair, Symbicort) at a high daily steroid dose (speak to your doctor about whether you are on a high dose or not)
An inhaler with a high daily steroid dose (speak to your doctor if you're not sure if you're on this type of inhaler) AND you are taking Montelukast
Or, if:
You have been admitted to hospital for your asthma in the last 12 months
You have ever been admitted to an intensive care unit for your asthma
Then you should follow the shielding advice."
NHS Digital who created the list (digital.nhs.uk/coronavirus/... state the following: "We expect GPs and hospital doctors to add around 600,000 other patients to the list, to give a total number of approximately 1.5 million."
****So please speak to your GP/clinician. You can also register yourself here (they will ask for your NHS number, found on a prescription or hospital letter, but it is not essential to register with) gov.uk/coronavirus-extremel...
The government website lists medical conditions considered to be extremely vulnerable. Medication is not listed.
Thats correct, but the confusion lies with the terminology they have used 'Severe Asthma'. If you look at how they have created the lists and read further detailed guidance on the Asthma UK website (this is detailed information from Dept of Health and Social Care) you will find more information regarding medications that would mean that you would be on the shielded person list. If you feel you may need further guidance as whether you should be shielding or not then you should speak to your GP or clinician.
I’m on exactly the same meds as you. I also have a flu jab and had a pneumonia jab. I’m not shielding . I walk my dogs once a day, go for the odd run and get others to do my shopping etc. I had pneumonia four years ago and was hospitalised- I’m not taking any chances but being sensible and cautious
I also have exact same thread/ post on this site from yesterday.
I'm also on Fostair but 200/6. Info out there is confusing. Just read the replies here to see.
One minute there's some reputable charity listing medications eligible for 12 week letter , next post will say it wrong.
I phoned my doctor's surgery Friday and just got "ring NHS 111' as soon as you mention covid
