I started to use Clenil 100, a year ago and it was great for me until I contracted pneumonia in May. I have had to right up the scale to Seretide 500 to cope with the inflammation. I’m not sure if I will ever get back to Clenil now. If I do it’s probably way way into the future.

I have tried Seretide as well and straightaway it caused massive breathing difficulties and made me cough very badly so I didn't use it again.

Obviously Seretide was not the right medication for you. What type of inhaler has your medical professional said you need? Clenil is a steroid only inhaler while Seretide is a steriod with a long lasting bronchodilator (combo inhaler)

I have moderate persistent asthma, which I developed after age 50. It seems to be getting worse and could not be

controlled by low doses of inhaled steroids.Hence my doctor asked me to use a combination inhaler,Seretide which made things worse.I'm still looking for a preventer inhaler with tolerable side effects.Any suggestions ?

The one that my specialist prefers is Fostair but I have not changed as I am quite happy on Seretide. My breathing has calmed a lot since starting this treatment. Just shows we are all different. There are so many different inhalers out there but as you know sometimes it’s trial and error. My first combo inhaler was Flutiform but it gave me serious palpitations. Have a good chat with your medical professional about the problems you have experienced. It’s possible that Seretide caused you problems because it’s a dry powder that can in some, irritate the lungs further. I’ve had dry powders since I was tiny so I think it’s just what my body is used to.

Hi I use Clenil 100 and I have no problems with it .been using it for 3 yrs now from first diagnosis. Went on to Clenil 200 for a couple of months last year ..then back down to the 100. I guess every body is different and different types suit different people you just have to find one that works for you :)

I reluctantly went onto Clenil after my doctor had been nagging me for years. My asthma was very mild and easily controlled but I stupidly listened to the doctor. I developed a chest infection not long after starting the Clenil and have been left with a persistent cough despite stopping the clenil. I feel it has POSSIBLY exacerbated my asthma.
