Yes, it is the same compound: Beclomethasone, at 100mg per actuation

Worth flagging up that the active ingredient might be the same but the propellant isn't. Sobrobec gave me an asthma attack, but I was fine with Clenil!

This is another concern I have as I felt it was making me cough and did ask the pharmacist this question and he said no it’s exactly the same

It's definitely not - my GP said they always start patients off on Sobrobec because it's cheaper, but he had found a number of patients who found it made them worse but were fine on Clenil. I think your pharmacist is assuming that because the active ingredient is the same, it will have the same effect, but it's the same as any medication - being ok with the active ingredient doesn't mean you are going to be ok with whatever carrier they use for it.

Definitely worth keeping an eye on and going back to your GP if things get worse or don't settle.

thank you for the reply, I was on Clenil for 26 years with no problems whatsoever and dr changed to Soprobec and is refusing to change me back, it definitely is to save money as the surgery has been changing lots of medications for cheaper alternatives

It's fair enough that they want to try the cheaper option, but they should definitely be willing to swap you back again if you can demonstrate that your asthma is more poorly controlled on the new medication. Keep an eye on the situation, and in particular, any increase in Ventolin use - while Sobrobec may be cheaper than Clenil, that benefit is going to be outweighed if you start having to use more reliever or need further medical care due to poorly controlled asthma. So if there is clear evidence you are worse using the replacement, it would be worth pointing out that it's not going to save money in the long term!
