HRT patches and asthma

Since November 17 my asthma has gotten worse from mild to now on everything that my doctors can give me. Fostair 200/6, 2 puffs twice a day, monkelaust, high dose antihistamine.

Since April I been on 3 course of Prednisolone then stopped then two weeks okay then two course of Prednisolone. I did stopped between doses then ended back on another course 1/2 days later.

I have the coil fitted so no periods since last June.

Now I thinking that Hrt patches would help me with my asthma. I have also been advised to start taking medication to increase my bone density. That's in the process of being sorted too.

Ladies have you use Hrt patches to help control your asthma better?

I just typed in hrt and asthma and it came up with an nhs post of estrogen only hrt linked to developing asthma

Excess estrogen promotes allergies although estrogen is needed to keep membranes supple

The effects of a patch would last a long time you would be better doing a very tentative experiment in supplimenting estrogen are you even deficient in estrogen? I didn't know the coil stopped periods and maybe this is the cause of your worsening symptoms?

Flaxseed oil is very good for asthma a desert spoon full a day is the recommended dose

Thanks the coil doesn't always stop your periods only in 60-80 percent of the time. I had to coil since last march periods stopped in June. I can't say it's not the cause as my asthma only got worse in April.

I have an appointment with one of the lady doctor in 12 says time and left a message with the doctor who same yesterday.

So I wait and see what the doctor think.

Hi! This is an interesting post - I wasn't aware of a link between asthma and hrt! I am on hrt, have been since the age of 14, 13 years ago, due to a medical condition meaning my body doesn't produce enough, looking back that would have been around the time I started developing hay fever, followed by an asthma diagnosis last year! My current hrt has been unavailable due to manufacturing problems, so in the process of changing, definitely a point to raise with my GP about any potential link!
