71 year old woman, had cough as long as I can remember. Diagnosed with CVA 10 years ago. Been on numerous medications- Symbacort 200 , Respiva, Esomeprazole and Montelukast . Since MidDecember totally out control. 5 day course steroids, not pleasant. Saw consultant last week changed to Relvar 184/22 , Respiva and Ventolin when needed. Still coughing and need Ventolin. Had really bad coughing fit this morning difficult to breathe. Will this ever get under control? Sorry for ranting I am just so fed up being like this . I am trying to be positive. Thought this was the answer and only 1 puff a day instead of 8 .Any advice?

Sorry to hear you’re feeling like this, Bowling. I would say check with your GP in the first instance, after these med changes, but always get to A and E if struggling to breathe....call an ambulance.
If symptoms persisted after five days of steroid tablets back in December, maybe a few more days were needed..,,,I usually have them for seven days...but a doctor needs to decide, of course. If an infection isn’t fully cleared, things can drag on a bit. Hope things improve for you soon.
