got only a glucocorticoide inhaler

hello

i've been diagnosed with asthma in the beginning of the year (i literally got a really bad bronchitis at the 1.1. and breathing issues).. my doc gave me a glucocorticoide inhaler (called budiair .. it has only budesonide in it).

i did not get anything for an emergency situation?

is this normal? i'm reading on the internet "take your emergency inhaler".. but i did not get any.

my coughing is gone however.. i still have breathing issues (shortness of breathe and tied chest).

idk i cry a lot.. i'm afraid i will never be able to breathe normal again.

Why not phone your doc and ask if you should have a reliever. Being sad when you are given a diagnosis of asthma is normal it's a lot to accept but give yourself time

Another thing you could try is to ring the Asthma UK hepline, asthma.org.uk

I don't know if this is so, but it seems an unusual inhaler to give to someone newly diagnosed, especially as you have been given so little information about what sort of asthma you have, why the expert(s) came to that conclusion and how you are going to live with it.

In the first instance go back to the GP and ask him/her for an explanation - write your questions down and take them with you so you don't forget anything.

If you are still in the dark, or feel you are being fobbed off, insist on seeing a consultant. I know it's rotten but the majority of people with asthma live ordinary lives and manage fine most of the time. You have to make a few adjustments, depending on allergies and so on, but in the end, you can live with it and live well.

thank you, i will do that. i'm seeing the doctor in 2 weeks again, she gave me the appointment. I will ask her.

She did not explained me the diagnosis.. she made me breathe into a small gadget 2 times and said my lungfunction is only 2,0.

i asked her if she could tell me if its asthma or COPD and she told me she cannot be sure but she will treat me for asthma.

she took blood samples from me and the results showed bad immune system, she said she can see that my body is having an allergic reaction. but she did not tell me if i need to do a test to find out whats causing the reaction. also when i had to breathe into the small thing i was given 2 inhalers and had to use them, i did not feel any difference. maybe she did not give me anything additional because of that?

i'm really confused and i'm not sure if i will stay with this doctor.i'm always feeling its my fault that i got sick and i'm ashamed for my condition.

No! There is nothing to be ashamed of! You didn't ask to be sick! As English is not your first language you might take an English friend with you to help the more difficult bits. But you are not to blame. Absolutely not.
