How long for antibiotics to kick in?!

Got this chest infection & possibly pleurisy but

Just wondering how long it can take for amoxicillin 3times a day & Clarithromycin 2 tablets a day; take to kick in?

Hi I have always been told ab's should start kicking in after around 2 days. If they still haven't by the 4th day I would go back as different ones might help you. x

I was told 3 days. I started on anitbiotocs last Sunday and was feeling 50% better (still pretty rough!) after 24 hours. Almost 2 years ago after 4 day I felt I was improving but very slowly. Wham Bang double pnuemonia and not been right since. Don't hesitate to return to the doctor.

2 days should do the trick if not after 3 days go back. Both good antibiotics but might need something else😊

Hello lotti if you just started after your IVF from hospital it give and take 3-4days I say this cause if you're body is use to something can take some time or 2 says they are strong antibiotics

thank you, I’ve not been in hospital; we are hoping that with these two antibiotics we can avoivd it!

I keep taking them, sometimes feel better through out the day; but can certainly tell when I am due my next antibiotic dose.

Hi lotti yes that means either antibiotics has build a resistance or its a different bug or you need more predislone for definitely you need to give sputum sample to lab via consultant do it asap I have. Been through same fraze
