Two Asthma Attacks in the space of Two Months—Should I be concerned?

Before I get into this whole thing since I am new on this forum, I just want to start off by saying that from birth I was quite sickly. I was born with malfunctioning kidney valves that taken two years to fix, had severe asthma growing up and my first asthma attack was when I was 8 years old, I had two other attacks a year later and after that, I had absolutely no more asthma attacks!

...Until December last year, and February this year.

I was travelling to Germany for the first time to meet my now fiancé for the second time (This time I came to visit.) and I was absolutely fine up until three days later. This is where it gets scary.

At first, I thought it was a cold/flu that I caught from being at the Christmas Market in minus temperatures and being too late with my vaccine, then again, this wasn’t a normal flu or cold. Overnight, I started getting warning signs with my breathing when I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom (which is literally 10 or so steps away) without gasping for air. My fiancé was at his job at the bakery, and I was alone without my Berotec or Salbutamol inhalers (STUPID MOVE! DONT MAKE MY MISTAKE!) and I was starting to panic once I felt my heart rate start to increase and I was slowly going into a critical state.

After reaching out to my fiancé, before I even knew it, he got home, called the ambulance and I was carted off to the ER. Had tests done, blood drawn and the works, before they put me on a nebuliser. I was told that I had a nasty asthma attack and it was due to complications with pneumonia related to the flu. I was confident that this wouldnt happen again, my fiancé covered my medical costs and my insurance (What a guy❤️) and I was sent home 8 hours later.

Now, everything was absolutely fine after that. I wasnt sick, but still fighting the nasal congestion and I had blood pressure issues for a few weeks, but I recovered quickly and was back on my feet after a while.

Now, this is important, because the second time it happened THIS year, it was without warning. I was just doing my normal morning routine a few days before Valentines Day of this year, still in Germany, and I was well adjusted to the air quality of my area. So it definitely wasn’t environmental. I wasn’t sick, or having a persistent cough during my sleep, so there was no warning that I was going to get an attack again..

Then come mid afternoon, I was suddenly gasping for air again, this time with an unknown cause. I was wheeled back into the ER and had a very low peak flow and low oxygen in the blood, I was kept on a nebuliser yet again, and the doctor who saw me fetched over an asthma consultant to see what the problem was. What they found; was NOTHING.

I was really suffering mind you, and they were all aware of my previous asthma attack, but this time the cause was:

Absolutely nothing.

It baffled me, them and my fiancé.

My stats (Except my blood pressure and heart rate for a few hours) were normal. I had no cold, flu, pneumonia, no collapsed lung, no scarring, no allergic reaction..

What in the hell happened, and can any experts out there pinpoint something that was clearly or possibly missed that may have caused my attacks? Am I still at high risk of yet another one?

Since that attack in February, I was put back on my inhalers thanks to a savvy doctor giving me the kick in the backside for not taking my original ones with me (by mistake! I wouldn’t usually be this careless I promise!) and I have only my usual day to day asthma symptoms (mild coughing, wheezing without stridor and the occasional shortness of breath from overactivity) but nothing alarming.

Better safe than sorry though. Hense why I am posting.
