Hi Mark

I used to have economy 7 heating in the flat hubby and i had when we first got maried(13 yrs now). At the time i wasnt a brittle asthmatic but did suffer regularly and i found that when the heating was on i was wheezier and my chest got tighter, sometmies if it was on for any length, i think either i became used to whatever triggered the problem or the trigger lessened.

Having since been into friends properties with the economy 7 heating i am sure it causes problems (i think due to the dust and the type of heat) so i wouldnt opt for somewhere it is already installed.

Sorry i cant give u any links but i hope this helps?

Perhaps if u have friends or family who have it mayb your children could do a trial run there? If not is it viable for you to change the heating as soon as you move(esp as its warming up now)

Good luck and keep us posted .

I think economy 7 is heating that is stored at night when electricity is supposed to be cheaper! It is just a scheme / payment method / system , I think, so contact your lecy supplier and see if it can be changed.

too much Heat at night is not a good idea - I always turn down the thermostat at night in winter and have a nice warm duvet but the air around is coolish which suits my breathing - not too stuffy.

thankyou for your replies does anyone know if there are grants etc maybe to get the heating changed this house is so nice i dont want to pass it up but heating is alot of money haha

If I remember rightly economy 7 is electric heating which we used to find very drying on the air!

Perhaps looking into getting it changed is a long-term idea but what about trying a humidifer or someat similar IF they find the air to dry!

As kids (before I got asthma at all) it used to aggravate my chest then we would put bowls of water under each heater or near to them to keep the air a little moister!

Then again gas central heating can be just as drying to the air for some people!

It is a case of try something and if it works good if it doesnt work try again!

Sorry not much use am I!
