What now...?!

My asthma has been really unstable lately..ive had 4 admissions to hospital this year already :S, im on Seretide, Atrovent, Montelukast, Certirizine, Uniphyllin, 40mg of pred....majority of the time and on a 16 wk trial of Xolair. Despite all this i cannot get my asthma to settle down, i know there are a lot of people on here who have asthma much worse than mine so i shouldnt be moaning, but i was wondering where to go from here treatment wise? We have decided to see the trial of the Xolair out but my consultant doesnt see too hopefull.

any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks Becca Xx

Hi becca,

Sounds like you are going through it at the moment!

Has the consultant mentioned a potential for bronchial thermoplasty? Its a fairly new procedure which might be worth asking about.

Look after yourself.

Have you tried any of the immunosurpressants? Subcut might also be an option....

Thanks for the replies guys,

Em my consultant hasn't actually said anything lately about options other than xolair but Im one of these people who like to know what the options are before I get there!

The thought of immunosuppressives kinda scares me to be honest and I know nothing of the bronchothermoplasty but I will have a look :)

Thank again Becca X

I have to say I have to agree with you I am not keen on immunosurpressant idea either my consultant is talking about mycophenylate (might be wrong spelling) at some point this year... Have an appointment with him next week so have lots of questions to ask... if he suggests anything usefull I will let you know...
