Hi, I am shocked that the school feel it is acceptable to treat you and your child like this. Even if the head does report you there isnt a court in the land that would take action against a mum caring for a sick child. Have you got a respiritory nurse that could support you or your gp? Have you got a care plan in place for your child at school?. I can understand how difficult it can be when your child is having loads time off school, My son is 10 and he hasnt done a full week at school since november, this half term he has done 7 days! Maybe the docs could review your chids treatment to enable them to attend school more often?

Good luck

Its areally hard situation and makes me so angry its 11.50 pm and she has JUST settled for how long i dont know.

ionly started at this school two years ago and the school before that were BRILLIANT.

this head here always gives me a hard time. to the point where i have fallen out with her. i live in a really small village there is only 72 in the whole school infant and junior.

to name one occasion where she was awkward i took them The kids away whilst we had a new kitchin i gave her a letter and also spoke to her about it etc etc next day get a call from childrens nurse! where are they!!!!!!!!!!!!!1explained about dust etc etc i feel like home teaching her i eally do sorry for the waffle feeling stressed.

I have just read you're post & I am so sorry for the situation you & your child find your selves in.

I am a children's respiratory nurse specialist in a Trust that cares for children who suffer from very serious asthma from a very large catchment area.

If you have any knowledge of the British Thoracic Society's guideline or indeed the AUK, you will see that it is 'gold standards' if you like, to keep your child controlled & free from symptoms. By being off school so much would tell our team that the asthma is not under control & you'r little girl may need to be seen by a respriatory specialist who deals with children. Do you already?

Hopefully, they would have a nurse like me who could sit & talk to you about all these issues & advice you on what can be done to help your child's asthma be better controlled & that includes visiting the school to educated them as well. Or at least speak to the school nurse & teacher on how bad you're daughters asthma is. They may well be under the impression that you're little girl has asthma like lots of others in the school but they are not off as much as she is so they wonder why, if you see what I mean.

I have had one set of parents who said they were being told by the school the situation withtheir child's absences could go to court but once we were involved & highlighted the seriousness of the condition that went away. I do know that every case is different & that I don't know your child's full history etc but

do talk to your girls consultant to highlight the issues & ask to see a nurse who might do thing like we do here to help. Or even speak to a nurse advisor on this site.
