I'm having severe leg pain for over a year now and I have done lots of of courses on exercise classes but its just getting worse. I have osteoarthritis in several areas I was advice to try this injection before having hip replacement,, my worry is it will be done in doctors surgery that is linked to physiotherapy place but I hear that it is usually done by being ct scan for guidance has anyone had this done not by a hospital, also can anyone tell me how painful it is.

I think you may be talking about having a steroid injection into the hip using ultra sound so it can be more accurate as it is quite easy to give injections that do not quite hit the spot, so do not work. What sort of leg pain do you get? Where is it?
I have had knees done and it was not painful. Local aesthetic injected before hand. well worth it for me.
Hello there , most steroid injections are done in outpatients or your Gp surgery . Unfortunately some injections in outpatients can go wrong I speak from experience. CT scans are normally for PRP injections which is a totally different matter and is usually done in theatre or a sterile room with a monitoring scan as you are not supposed to walk for a few days after a PRP injection ( not totally possible but rest helps). PRP injections are not always given for Arthritis. Hope this helps ultra sound is a safer way to get an injection into the right place in my opinion, both for yourself and the DoctorBest Wishes
Had the injection in january while in hospital with respiratory probs and its been very worthwhile, still feeling some benefit from it. Painful? no it wasn't and I was able to walk straight away.
Our gp surgery had no one qualified in the entire building to give it and by the time an app with a hospital based physio was due I was in hospital so a respiratory doctor gave it while I was on his ward. I'd recommend it as surgery is the alternative for me and I don't want that if I can manage without it.
I'm getting a follow on phone call from a health and sports centre based physio I saw recently to see how things are. The main thing I found was to make sure you have someone who is qualified to give the jab. Good luck with it.
