Ive just seen a rheumatologist consultant about similar. He said that I have generalised osteoarthritis and the treatment is exercise and pain relief. He gave me a booklet published by Versus Arthritis. Their website, and that of Arthritis Action, is helpful. I am to see a physio.Has your pain been definitely diagnosed?

Trigger finger - if this is Dupuytrens Contracture the cure is an operation. I know this isn’t very helpful but that’s how it is!

Yes try the special hand exercises Versus Arthritis recommend.

Also, try a pair of Isotoner compression gloves (more expensive but much much better than the cheap imitations) and you can even sleep in them! The seams are on the outside which makes them more comfortable to wear without irritation.

I love my Theramit glove, which you heat in the microwave, and can buy on Amazon. There's a ladies and a mens version.

Other suppliers are probably available of course!!

Hi. A kind person on here recommended Dynamint which is a cream or gel that is totally natural and smells great. You can buy it online from Holland and Barrett. It helps me more than the Ibuprofen gel from my doctor and you can use it as often as you need to. It comes as a cream or a roll on.

I second Dynamint; it also comes in a spray version which works out a little cheaper. You just have to push the plunger very carefully to get a little on your finger to spread on the area. You can get it on Amazon, often a bit cheaper than the shops.

There are several aids available to help with hand issues such aids to help with opening jars I have a very old jar opener that is brilliant. Changing everyday cooking utensils I find I now use a potato peeler instead of a knife to peel vegetables. Cutlery with thicker handles helps too likewise with pens. Use a plastic jug to fill the kettle so you’re not putting added strain on your joints or use a small travel kettle you can buy a multitude of small aids and equipment if you use a search engine.
