Hi June I can understand how you are feeling. I feel the same. I finally got the courage to see my GP about how I was feeling and she prescribed antidepressants for me and I see her every month and talk thing through with her. I find they are helping at the moment. Take care xx

Hi June I do agree with you that if you don't experience the pain you can't understand how someone is feeling. I was dx with OA in 2012. And then last year I was refered to see a consultant in the rheumytolagy clinic to see if it was just OA as I was getting pain in most of my joints my hands being the worst. He dx me with psoriatic arthritis too. I also suffer from COPD. And the strange thing is that psoriatic arthritis is caused by an overactive immune system. And I have been told I have a low immune system . Due to repeated chest infections it never rains but it pours. I am now waiting to see a immunologist to see why my immune system is so low. You take care too xxx

June I very much know how you feel. Osteo started on me when I was 37 in 2013 just a month in a half before I was 38. Since 2013 after starting in my hands it's moved to my feet a year later then by March of last year it progress in my shoulders , knees and hips and possibly in my lower back as well. Yes I have unbearable days , especially when my hips and knees act up on me. I've yet found anything to ease my pain. Hope you find something that can make you more comfortable. Good luck sweetie. J. Thankyou so much for replying. Yes I sure have had this for years but was fobbed off. It has come on really bad since Jan. Seems to be in every joint now. My arms\wrists\hands are so painful. As are my shoulder s\hips\bottom back\knees & ankles. Nothing seems to help much. Waiting go on a tablet in Sept but have to be assessed for it first. Hope you are OK & hope speak soon.

June I've got to see my GP again in Oct. My fear right now is having to use a wheelchair. I'm only in my early 40's I'd hate to have to start doing that. Mine has gotten aggressive as well. I've tried five different prescription pain medications and none of them helped me. At this point I'm doing what I find on my own that helps me. J. Quinn

Your story sounds a lot like mine. At 52 finally dxd with ankylosing spondylitis. I've had pain since I was 16! But of course it has accelerated greatly in past few years. Methotrexate not helping much, prednisone is WONDERFUL but you can't take that all the time. Waiting on insurance to start Humira. It will be a lengthy process to find the right medication, don't give up! Cutting sugar, processed foods and red meat also seems to help a bit. I am definitely worse the day after a sugar binge!

Hi J4june...I have widespread OA and have had 2 arthroscopies and repair to right knee 2 yrs ago and now need knee replacement and both hips...cannot bear to think about further ops at moment as like you, feel quite low...I have been taking antidepressants for number of years due to all the anxiety and pain and feeling frustrated with my body as want/need to carry on working albeit part time but am increasingly fatigued which worsens mood and impacts on achey bones....But have some better days and hope this day is better for all of us on here!! I do think some antidepressants are better than others but please speak with G.P. and know they do take time to lift your mood..maybe 3-6weeks so persevere and take care! xx

Thanku so much for reply. Didn't think anyone answer. Yes my osteo is widespread. On anti dep. Think you have to experience this to understand what its like. It very hard to explain as it so diff from day to day. My pain travels round & hurts in every joint when used that exhausted by early evening.

Thanku for taking time to answer x

Hi J4june

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It takes a while to get used to a new diagnosis. I have Osteoarthritis Fibrolyalgia and many other complaints and it all gets a bit much at times. The more relaxed you are the better you handle pain. I go to meditation classes and I also attend a Counselor I find these tools help and if you could join a support group that can be a great support so you don't feel your so alone. I hope things get better for you soon. Take care.

Hi June, Yes, I can sympathise with everyone who has answered your e-mail. I suppose I was fortunate that I reached 70 before o/a reared its ugly head with me!!! I'm in constant pain with both knees, lower back and one hip - in fact I'm having a hip replacement in October (fingers crossed) but the pain is really exhausting. I'm not gaining weight but I know I could do with losing a stone - not easy when you can't walk far, or very fast! Good luck to all!
