I was wondering if anyone is on Prednisolone for rheumatoid arthritis. I have been recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis. I have read about the side effects . I am feeling very a anxious taking the mediation. I would like to if anyone has had a positive experience.
Thank you

Hello, I'm so sorry you have been diagnosed with RA. Have you been prescribed any other drug with Pred? Usually when a confirmed diagnosis of RA has been made the patient will be given Pred initially to tide them over until they have been prescribed a DMARD (Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic drug). It's quite common to be given Pred for a short period until the main drug begins to work and then Pred will be stopped. I take 2 DMARDS, Methotrexate and Leflunomide but also take Pred for another condition. I hope they have advised you to take then in the morning or you might have problems sleeping. You won't be on them for long term as they can cause Osteoporosis among other things. I'm going to give you a few links you might find helpful.
Hi I am new to the group and read about the treatment you are now on. I have read about this and would like to know of side effects such as hair loss. I have only been given steroid injections so far. I was diagnosed 11 weeks ago.
Hello, some do have a little hair loss with DMARDS but although my husband claims my hair looks thinner I don't think it does. Compared to chemotherapy, when I lost all my hair, it's currently quite thick.
