I have recently started suffering from gout. I am trying to eliminate certain foods and drink from my diet but appreciate any advice and tips.

I had several attacks of gout 7-8 years ago. I was prescribed Allopurinol (300mg), which I have been taking ever since and have not had another attack. At the end of the day, it seems that my natural levels of uric acid were high regardless of my diet.

Morning,

Ouch! Gout is just horrid.

My gout was due to kidney failure so the quinine which I was taking for it had to stop although it did work for the gout.

I found that cherry juice like the type in Holland and Barrett worked really well if I caught an episode quick enough.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Hi. I started with Gout last year and had many flare ups. On researching online I changed my diet keeping away from foods with purines. I also have lemon squeezed into warm water first thing every morning. Touch wood I have had no flare ups for 5 months now. fingers crossed.

Hi all. I am now on Allopurinol 100mg after three episodes of gout. Haven’t had a flare up for around five weeks but have been left with a pain in my toe most of the time ( thank goodness not as excruciating as the gout). Is this something that happens when you have gout?
