Opiate withdrawal.

After 2wks of reducing my opiates, on doctors orders, I would like to give an update. As this is something that most of us will maybe have to do in the future. I have now gone 3 days with no opiates at all. It as been a bit of a rough ride, with constant pain in my back and neck. However, I'm determined if this is the correct way forward to succeed. In place of opiates, I'm taking 2700mg of Gabapentin. I've had no side effects from the Gabapentin, but I was taking 900mg daily for over 2yrs prior to this. I was taking Zomorph ( slow release morphine) twice daily and oramorth, as and when needed for breakthrough pain. Anyone going through their own opiate withdrawal, please feel free to leave comments, to help all of us know what to expect. Thank you for reading, please join me on this journey of mine. One determined lady here.

Well done Sonsafc. I think you will notice a positive effect.

I went through opiate withdrawal 4 months ago but could not have done it without using CBD oil.

Being off opiates for the first time in 5 years has been a revelation. I have found the person I was before to some extent. My mood is much much better and my confidence has increased.

It's the way to go if it can be done without massive pain increase.

Thank you Deejames. It wasn't plain sailing. Yes I've had pain. However, like you, I agree that I've started to be the whole me again. I was mostly affected by memory loss. I was beginning to struggle to get through a sentence without searching for the word I wanted to say. Now my hubby say's, oh no, the dictionary mouth is back. Today is the first day I've had no pain at all, well yes, a dull ache that I would say was a 2/10. I'm not going to moan about that. Deejames, I have not used anything instead of the morphine, other than the Gabapentin that was prescribed. I'm glad, like me, that your pleased to be off the opiates. Onwards and upwards now. Keep me up to date with your progress please. Likewise I'll keep you updated with mine.

With me it was lack of confidence, social withdrawal and an almost obsession wit my pain and the restrictions on my life. And yes the memory loss and fuzzy brain.

I am glad you are managing without anything. I am happy with the cbd which has no side effects ( except on my bank balance) and a couple of paracetamol some days. That keeps my pain at about a 2/10.

What kind of arthritis do you have ?
