I have a bakers cyst in my left leg but apparently no arthritis, however I have moderate arthritis in my right leg after insisting the pain was in both legs. I am awaiting an appointment for physiotherapist ? Is this for both legs, feeing confused and in pain, can anyone give me advice please.

Hi, I was told I had a bakers cyst after my first knee replacement, it was seen while looking for a blood clot with diagnostic imaging. It can cause quite a bit of pain. The physiotherapist can help treat the bakers cyst symptoms as well as arthritis. The bakers cysts usually go away on their own.

"Baker's cysts are more common in women than men, probably because women are more likely to develop osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They usually develop in people aged over 40, although can affect people of any age, including children."

Thank you so much for your reply’s, I find on first standing up I have to straighten my leg slowly because of the stiffness but my both legs feel much the same. I do tend to walk like a duck though which I was told was a vitamin D deficiency, I hate this getting old lark I’m 71 but still feel 40 🤣

I have had an on going problem with a bakers cyst at the back of my right knee for about 5 years now. I have osteoarthritis in numerous joints. I have had it drained and a steroid injection into the knee which did not do a lot. Since then the swelling comes and goes with a mind of its own. I have had numerous scans etc which have not given me any definitive answers as to cause. When I saw the physiotherapist it was suggested to me that my problems in the right knee had changed the way I walked which inturn was causing problems in my left leg. I wonder if this could be the cause of your problem.

Hi Badbessie, I have also had issues with my left leg for 35 +years after twisting my knee lifting a farm gate. I usually know how not to kneel on it or do things to set it off. I was quite shocked there was no apparent arthritis in that leg, but my right leg has moderate arthritis. My fear is that physio might make my left leg worse ??

From memory as it was a few years back the physio was very helpful.

Regarding the Bakers cyst l have at back of left knee, l think my posture definitely causes a lot of problems. l limp almost constantly. And my physiotherapist has said my knee is slightly bent. My main concern now is getting rid of Bakers cyst. As arthritis has calmed down.
