I have the same but in my right knee. The cramps are awful especially in my foot it's more like a spasm and wakes me up it takes a while to go even if I try and move about. Ask to see a Physio they will give you knee exercises. Before bed have some tonic water and drink plenty of water through the day that my help the cramp.
Hi I have had it in both knees, had X Ray's and had my first replacement knee 2 months ago ,just waiting for the other one,
I would ask your doctor for X-rays to be done and then see if require a replacement,I don't think cramp as anything to do with it.
Best of luck
Hi I have arthritis in both knees, right hip and now my fingers seem to be joining in. I can't say that I suffer from cramp in my feet or legs, my pain is more localised to knees which swell quite badly during and after walking a lot. When I sit they get very stiff. Pain in fingers and thumb in left hand is more like toothache and fingers get stiff and are losing strength.
The cramp could be brought on due to compensation on trying to protect your knee when walking. Physio exercises will help to build up the muscle above the knee which will in turn help support it.
Cramp is often caused by lack of salt in the body so a quick fix is to eat a bag of salted crisps and wash it down with a tonic water which has quinine in it, it's the quinine which helps in the relief of cramps too. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay well hydrated will also help.
