We've had some great Facebook & Twitter chats about the part music played in both our time in hospital, but also in important lyrics that helped us through the dark times. Would love to hear more suggestions from members of HealthUnlocked

Hi Naomi,

Love the playlist! Well done.

One track that sticks in my mind is Lifted by the Lighthouse Family. Following PP I had very severe depression. When I started to feel better and came out of a very low mood I would sing this and it felt like a weight had lifted off my shoulders! It was an amazing feeling when it did lift and always think of it as a feel good tune!!

Hi Naomi, This is such a great idea. I also have another tune which I had forgotten about until I came across the tape which I had bought after hearing it playing in a shoe shop, way back when ..... The song is "I'm going all the way" by Sounds of Blackness (a good name for my mood at the time!!). It was as if the lyrics had been written for me, i.e. "Whatever it takes to make it I'm going all the way .. I may be down sometimes but I won't be down always ......." By the good grace of YouTube I was able to play it again and remember why I had asked the lady in the shoe shop the name of it.

Nina Simone - Feeling Good. The lyrics 'it's a new dawn, it's a new day' as I got up each morning really struck a chord, I had to be optimistic today would be a better day than yesterday.

Hi Naomi,

Sorry to ask but as I'm not on Facebook or Twitter is it possible to view the spotify mix elsewhere?

Best wishes.

Hi Lillybeth - of course, thank you for asking!

The link is here, but I think you will need a Spotify subscription to listen?

Must have missed this question when you posted it! During labour when I had a kind of out of body experience I could hear Dark Side of the Moon and during the psychosis I could not listen to it. What I was amazed to read in the list was the Gustav Mahler 5th Symphony and I have clear memories of sitting in the sunshine listening to this just a few weeks before I gave birth. Interestingly enough the group that I heard and enjoyed during the illness were The Christians Born Again and Forgotten Town. Not sure how to use Spotify but I am sure my daughters will be able to show me!! Kind regards, Helen

Hi Naomi, I need to get on Spotify to listen to this! Some great tunes and glad that some of my suggestions were useful too. HelenMW - the Mahler is from me (I think), I'm a bit of a muso and studied music, so more than anything related to PP it's just one of my favourites, both to listen to and play. Really powerful and somehow fitting I think. Listening to it in either sun or rain does it for me I have to say! Some Mahler can be quite dark but I think it's really beautiful.
