Hello Ashley031

I'm glad the medication is making a difference .... it's such a good feeling when you realise your mind isn't racing and you can feel a sense of calm. You might have bad day again but the strength and faith that has carried you this far will continue and you will eventually recover.

I know it's not easy when you have a bad day but you honestly will get through this with the support you have around you at home and the care team.

Take good care ...... try to have a rest after work.

Hi lilybeth,

I actually go back to work 2morrow. I was on vacation. Being at work helps me a lot bc my mind isn't on the thoughts. I had bad thoughts today but I was able to get through it again. They aren't as bad as they have been. Talk to you soon. Xo

Hello Ashley

I hope you will be ok returning to work after your holiday. In a way it is a good distraction from your thoughts as you concentrate on what you are doing. Stay positive and look forward to better days ahead.

Take care.

Dear Ashley,

I am pleased you are feeling better since the meds have kicked in. It is good to have a focus and to look forward to something.

Be kind to yourself and all in stepping stones. Trial and error is fine to, do not beat yourself up, if things do not work out the way you want them to be. I usually try to keep an open mind. Obviously this can be difficult and like you I am finding distractions the best way, such as painting or meditating and going for walks or just playing with my little boy.

Kind wishes :-)

Sabine

Hi jasa,

Are you still struggling with ppp? How old is your baby?

in reply toAshley031

No, Ashley. I have fully recovered from PPP ( started in summer 2010) once the appropriate medication had been found-although a long struggle. I was on very traditional medication for one year.

Once weaned off Lorazepam and Risperidone I developed social and agora phobia including hyper activity/type of mania (lots of mind racing/sleep deprivation). My choice of coping with the obstacles are based on an alternative route instead of anti depressants such as healthy diet, meditating, painting, lots of exercising...in the first three years (2011-2014) I attended group therapy and volunteered in the field of mental health.

Wishing you the best of luck and peace of mind.

(My little man is 6 years old)

Sabine :-)

Hi Ashley031,

Good to hear your update and that things are improving for you. It's positive that you can feel the benefits of the meds and thanks too for sharing how the importance of your faith has been a huge comfort to you. I hope that you have also had good support from health professionals and that you are looking forward to a restful festive period. Take care, xx

Hi hannah,

I haven't seen my therapist or doctor bc my health insurance was shut off. I don't get it back until January but I'm still able to take my medication. My faith is what keeps me going. When u found out my insurance was shut off it killed me. I was so scared of hitting rock bottom again but my faith is what helped me. Hope to talk soon.

Hi Ashley031, apologies I thought when you mentioned the meds that you had been able to see someone. I remember you saying about the difficulties with your insurance, that sounds really tough, I don't have experience of that as we are very lucky to have the NHS here in the UK. It's good you have been able to notice the difference from meds and also be able to take them, and that your faith has been helping. I think we all have a number of things that have helped us through and I hope that the shared experiences from others here has also helped too. Take care, xx

Hi hannah,

The health insurance in the US is awful. They not only shut me off but my 21 month old son. I don't understand how a child gets shut off. When I do get my Insurance back I will see my doctor and Im going to see if he can increase my dosage. As if right now I'm on the lowest dosage. The only thing is when i first started the medication I broke out in hives and my doctor had me take benadryl to help with the reaction. I'm not breaking out in hives anymore bc my body got use to it but i feel like if the dosage gets increased that might happen again. Talk to you soon.

Hi lilybeth,

I call the insurance people on Thursday to see what's going on with my insurance. I'm hoping they will help me and I can get back in to the doctor. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday but I'm not sure if i can go. I have to say I'm doing a lot better then I was 9 months ago. I do believe my doctor needs to up my dosage and that will help me a lot more. The meds and praying has helped me a lot. Hope to talk soon.

Hello Ashley

Thanks for your update. How frustrating it must be for your about the insurance. In an ideal world I suppose they would allow for special circumstances. I hope you will be able to see your doctor on Thursday if the insurance is available. I'm really pleased that you're doing a lot better and the meds are working, although you think a higher dose would be more helpful.

Take care.

Hi Ashley

It's so great to hear that you haven't had a bad day in a long time, really wonderful. I found praying helped a lot too, my faith was a big part of my recovery.

I think being angry is maybe a natural emotion, part of maybe grieving what has happened to you? It sounds like you're battling a bit with depression too as well? But really does sound like you're on the road to recovery

Take care X

I'm very upset by this and just feel more down now. Nothing ever seems to go right. Now I have to call on my day off right when get open so I don't have to wait on the phone. Every 6 months I have to go through this. I'm so sick of it. Hope to talk soon.

Hello Ashley

Sorry to hear your insurance is still pending. A three hour wait on the phone is awful so I think it best if you go there, even though it's your day off. It must be frustrating having to cope with your illness and sorting insurance.

Hi lilybeth,

Last night I cried because of this whole Insurance situation. My doctor won't give me anymore refills on my antidepressant until I see him. I can't see him without my insurance. Ive done everything I had ti do with this insurance. I've sent over my last 4 paystubs, my son's birth certificate, and his social and they tried to tell me that they didn't get the fax I sent them. I sent it to them 3 different times. They said they only got one of my stubs. It just doesn't make any sense. I'm so sick of dealing with it. I don't have the strength anymore. Hope to talk soon.

Hello Ashley

I think after all the mix up with your insurance the best way, as you said earlier, is to go and see someone. Keep a copy of all your papers and hopefully someone will listen and be sympathetic to how much you have struggled to have the insurance activated again.

It's not easy for you but hopefully it can all be sorted by your visit tomorrow.

Take care.

Hello lilybeth,

I'm very stressed out with everything. I want to be happier. I think I deserve happiness. All these people that don't work get everything they want. Insurance and money from the state. I get nothing. I pay for everything and have no Assistance through the state. I work 6 days a week. I think people who actually work should get stuff that they deserve. It's just not fair. My anxiety is so bad. I feel like nobody understands. Hope to talk soon.

Lilybeth profile image

Hello Ashley

Try to be calm when you go tomorrow and stress how important it is for your to have more medication from your doctor. I think you have waited long enough so I hope all will be well tomorrow.

Take care.

Ellie_at_APP profile image

Hi Ashley I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling with insurance, it's shocking. I agree, everyone should have access to free health care and not have all these insurance issues- we are so lucky in the UK to have the NHS as we don't have these kind of battles, even if it's not perfect sometimes.

I do hope you'll be able to see your doctor tomorrow, and it will all be sorted, and you can get the medication you need, I'm not surprised you're stressed. I know I would be if I had to struggle with that, on top of trying to recover. I wonder if there is someone else (your partner, family, friend?) who could maybe help you deal with it all?

Take care, keep writing whenever you need to

I've just seen your message. This is awful, I can't believe you're having to deal with this and I'm not surprised you're so stressed, you are not getting the support you should be getting, it is awful. I'm not surprised you're so angry...

Being in the UK, we obviously don't have this particular issue around insurance etc, because of our national health service. I just wondered if you have been in touch with the charity Postpartum Support International postpartum.net/ who are based in the USA and may be able to advise you? I also wonder if someone from your family (your partner?) can chase the doctor and insurance etc on your behalf, to relieve some of the stress?

I am sure though that it is going to be sorted soon, and this stress will be over so try to keep hope...

Thinking of you, keep writing, we're here for you X

As you said you work 6 days so I wonder if someone in your family can go to your doctor for you or ring the insurance? It's very unfair that you were told you have been accepted for the insurance but why does it take so long? Can your doctor do anything to help you so that you don't go downhill?
