Hello TwounderTwo

Good to hear from you ....... I remember that nervous excitement! As you know my PP episodes were so long ago and I'm sure you will have more up to date last minute advice here.

It will be such a precious moment when you hold you son and I'm sure all will be well as you have a good care plan in place.

Hi

Nice to here from you. Not long now until baby will be here.

I had postpartum psychosis with my first child in 2013. I was in hospital for 10 days. Away from baby.

I have not long had my second child (2 weeks ago) and I started on olazapine three weeks before due date. My Parinatil Team have been very good, and I have managed to keep well. I wanted to breastfeed during the day and bottle feed at night but unfortunately the little one would not go back to brest after the bottle and I was getting upset about it so I decided just to bottlefeed to minimise the stress.

My husband did the night feeds for the first week, so I could get my sleep and rest.

Just try to relax and don't worry hopefully you'll be able to enjoy this time round. Try to make things as stressfree as possible, keep visitors to a minimum and try to get plenty of sleep.

Good luck. You will do fine, believe in your self.

Take care Jenny X

Hi

Sorry for the late reply. I am doing well thank you. I am getting enough sleep and the Meds seem to be working.

Hope you are doing well?

Fine thanks - probably over analysing every little symptom (keep waking at 5AM and not getting to sleep quickly but feel exhausted) but i'm attending 2 antenatal groups and symptoms seem common - I perhaps had it too easy last pregnancy, had a month of nesting.

DD is six days off so i'm just waiting to see - I'm sure with meds, it'll never be as bad xx

Get as much rest as you can, accept all offers of help and food :), keep positive and trust that those around you are looking out for you and that you have plans in place. Above all try not to worry and enjoy your beautiful new baby :)

Thinking of you, such a special time xx

Thinking of you and wishing you all the best. I too had an elective c section at 39+1 a couple of years back and remember very well the last couple of days. It's an exciting time and I hope you are feeling ready and also relaxing a little. Enjoy the last couple of days with your eldest children and make sure you have people doing things for you wherever possible. The idea of food is a good one, something for someone else to sort. I also had minimum visitors and remember quiet days in hospital and coming home to a cosy house was a very special time. I hope this sunny weather stays too and you can enjoy it with your family. Good luck and let us know how you get on if you'd like. Take care, xx

Hello TwounderTwo

What great news ....... congratulations on the birth of your son :) Take all the good advice above from mums .... rest as much as you can ..... limit visitors for now, etc. It's so good to be home isn't it? It has been an anxious wait for you. I hope your anxiety will ease as you take things day by day and enjoy the loving company of your children.

Take care ...... wishing you every happiness ..... will that be ThreeunderTwo now? :)

congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! I hope you are getting rest and things are going well. Try not to worry about the anxiety too much - it's certainly good to be aware of it and ask for more support if you need it. I also had some anxiety after my second but after pp it's absolutely natural, I know my psychiatrist said at the time that it was very normal. All the best and take care. Xx

Almost at one month, weaning off AP's at 6 weeks, pretty nervous about that. Still taking it a single day at a time, sometimes a minute at a time.

Hello TwounderTwo

Good to hear from you. I'm sure there's a lot of excitement in your home with all the joy of the new arrival. Almost a month already .... I hope you are finding some time to relax. I think you are doing well to cope one day at a time .... your confidence will build as each day goes by.

hi twoundertwo

good to hear your update. I found that coming off meds was a nervous time but you sound to be doing well. Keep resting up as much as you can (although I know how tricky that is with little ones!) and ask others to do things around the house or something else to help out.

And keep chatting to us here if that helps. Take care, xx

I took my last AP tonight. Will still be on a mood stabilizer for quite some time. Maybe the baby weight will come off now!!

Hello TwoUnderTwo

I hope you have been ok today without your ap medication. Just take it a step at a time as you have been and don't worry too much about your weight for now. Wrap yourself in the comfort blanket of home and try to find time to relax on the sofa when your treasures are asleep.

Take good care of yourself and keep in touch if you can.

Hi twoundertwo,

I hope things continue to go well and you are noticing some positives from stopping the anti-psychotic medication. I too took a mood stabilizer for a time longer, and found that although it was a nervous time, I also felt cautiously optimistic, and it was rewarding almost to be another step towards recovery.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend, do pop back and let us know how you are going or ask any more questions if it would be a help to you. Take care, xx
