I have been on Valium over 30 yeas, 20mgs, I suffer from Panics Depression, and agoaphobia, These were given to me before they knew they were addictive, now I am hooked, worst luck, but know when I have missed one, also on anti-meds, for 20 years, all types, was given seroxat for 3 years, and then the doctor stopped them dead, I was so ill I had togo back on the, for a year, and was weaned off with effexor, not been right since. My husband has altiziheimers, which is making me very panicky, do not want to face the day, sometimes stay in bed. Linden.

The same dose as me i sometime take a half a one and it calm me down i make a weeks worth last a month as the doctor Wont prescribe them for long as they are addictive

I was actually told they are not really effective after about 3-4weeks but ur body is addicted to them!....i was on them for 2 weeks then had 3 weeks break and my doctor would give them to me again, ive been on them regular for a week qnd a half but have really reduced them down, hes told me now just to take them when absolutely necessary, i also take Venlafaxine and am starting amitriptyline at night (i dont sleep well and do alot of tossing and turning) x

I started off only taking them when necessary, but was having more and more panics. I have trouble eating as well when I'm anxious, which is a pain. Yes, I am addicted, but only to the 2mg. The doc said the last bit would be hardest to come off. It's a bit scary. It's good if your sleeping anyway. I've had panic through the night in a and e a few weeks ago. Thats why it was hard to refuse the valium.

Wow thats amazing you managed to get off them after all that time. I have been off them for 6 days so still feel rough today. Can't eat or drink hardly anything, just want today to be over. Have been out this morning for an hour. How are you now? Did you find an alternative way to relax?

Hi,

Just found this site today and joined right away, I was on Diazapam for 10 years up to 1986, I saw a program on the tv by Esther Rantzen? called Thats Life I think, anyway they were saying that after a being on Diazapam for too long it actually fought you back by making the Symptoms worse! I got off them by breaking bits off at a time and getting used to that, then a bit more, and a bit more until I finally got off them, I had some really bad reactions to withdrawing form them for about 18 months! I have had bad Anxiety every 7-8 years and I am now on a "bout"? I feel a lot of the things mentioned on this Site and have sympathy with all of you, I have Vertigo due to Operations on my Ears since 1977! Drop attacks, spinning, etc, and thats without the added bonus of Anxiety!, the Doctors I have now are great, one of them is trained in ENT and helps me out really well, the others are really good too so at least I feel that someone is on my side, I also have a truly BRILLIANT Wife who has helped me for all these years wether she understands or not, she tries to help me in any and evry way, God Bless her! My Doctor gave me a Prescription for 2mg Diazapam, it helps with Vertigo by relaxing the inner Ear nerves apparently, but I have taken only 4 in 5 Months so far! I use them only as a totally last resort because I done want get stuck back on them, anyway I'm starting to waffle, sorry, just to finish, I get many of the thing metioned on this Site and some others, I dont think any two People get the same feelings from this Monster, its nice that People try to pas on tips and stuff to each other and I will be on regularly from now on, best wishes to ALL of you and try and be strong.
