I was prescribed Escitalopram for anxiety. I have very high general anxiety and OCD. Would love to hear anyone’s experience, good or bad. Thanks.

Very good experience. Start at a low dose and increase gradually first 2-6 weeks are tough but worth it

Thanks for the response. I was on Zoloft a year ago and when I went off of it I got Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, now I’m scared to take Escitalopram.

It is so vey common for people with Anxiety Panic disorder to have Pharmacophobia or as i call it fear of medication is irrational but still real, i had a devil of a job getting on taking any new meds, i found Escitalopram not very effective for me personally, i did persist but not the one for me, as we are all different all have a different pharmacological make up, so one pill does not suit all. but stick with it a while till you are at the theraputic dose, i take effexor i thought i was going to drop down dead due to being restless agitated and the need to keep moving, i was also coming off way too fast Clonazepam 3 x 10mg daily, as the Psychiatric ward i was on decided in hospital setting they can reduce faster personally its BS but i was changed down too diazapam which help for a couple of hours, i was watching clock desperate for next dose, but once effexor was at correct level for me, the diazapam was working more effectively for me, i am allowed 15mg of this a day, i have been taking Effexor and diazapam since 2013 now and it has helped a lot , but also a lot of work on self too. best of luck to you xx

It’s good takes about 4 weeks to kick in fully.. it’s noticeable after 2 weeks.. I started on 5mg and now on ten but works.. takes the edge off everything and starting to feel like a human again and not someone in a horror movie.. 😂😂

My doctor wants to put me on escitalopram for my anxiety as well but I’m scared to take it. I’m interested in seeing what other people’s experiences are too. If you do start can you update us as to if it’s helping you. Good luck! Hope it helps you.

Yes for sure! I will definitely update. And if you start it as well please share, thanks! I’m hoping to start something soon. I just need to get this other condition figured out first.

hi shelley! i started on 10mgs on November 1 of 2020. honestly, this has been the best decision and so happy i made it!! i too have anxiety and had a little depression going on since my 2 kids left home to go to college and left me an empty nester!! as of today, 1/10/21 it's the best i have felt in a long time. had some side effects that made me want to stop, but read reviews from others to ride it out and i did and am much healthier for doing so! it took me the full 6 weeks to notice, hey, i'm kinda calming down! week 8, was even better! don't regret one bit! excercise and listening to music helped tremendously!!! NO MORE SIDE EFFECTS!! good luck. if you need more, just let me know! oh, scripture helped as well if you are into that.

Awe that’s so good to hear!!! I’m happy to hear that it’s helping you so much, this gives me hope!! I’m going to speak with my doctor again about it and see what he says. Yah is for the tips! Music always helps but I’m definitely going to try to be more physically active. Again so good to hear it’s helping you!!
