Escitalopram and shingles

Took escitalopram which did not suit me and came off very low dose and got shingles. I think their may be a link.

my daughter came off celexa, similar to the drug you are on and got shingles. Could be coincidence, but interesting.

There have been some studies in America and there has been a link between escitalopram and shingles.

I just stopped the same medicine, because of side effects. It was only a tiny dose but now I have shingles - so there definitely is a connection.

Soooooo interesting...stumbled across this. I too stopped taking Lexapro around 6 months ago....NOW...I've had shingles for 12 weeks ...YES...12 weeks. My doctor put me back on Lexapro. I was about to swallow my first pill again and thought I would check the internet. OH NOOOOOOooooo..I thought it would help me through this. I'm so disappointed.

Go back and get another antidepressant. Tell doctor they had bad reaction and made you ill and he will find another one. I am a Christian and I generally pray before I take anything or go to doctors. I put my trust in Jesus. Doctors treat but God heals. Bless you

omg...well I didn't expect that reply. I've taken other ones and I have side affects. Praying has done NOTHING....it is what it is

If you have had shingles very unlikely you will get them again. So if Lepraxo works for you and helps then take it and do not worry.

You just gave me contradictory info. First of all..I am not going to lie to my doctor. Secondly, I think you should be aware of your advice as you are not a physician (I don't think), - I have been reading tons and tons of posts regarding people that have had multiple cases of shingles....Who do you believe????, and thirdly, thank you for replying. I am in the medical field and searching for some solid answers of people that have suffered. We can all go down the rabbit hole..which is scary. I have been desperate for help and just came across this. I have decided to not take the L and wait it out another week. I hate that drug. Not because I had bad side affects....they were just typical side affects...like feeling emotionally numb. Doesn't feel so hot. Have a great day.

I was only trying to help. I did not say lie I said to tell doctor they made you ill i.e. shingles. Sorry if you took offense I was under the misconception that they helped you.
