Carnt sleep or eat: Been on 10mg citalopram... - Anxiety Support
Carnt sleep or eat
Hi markrobo, I was looking over your posts and see that you were on a much
higher dose last year. You having trouble eating and sleeping may very well
be in response to your medication. Two weeks is not enough time for your
brain to adjust to going back on citalopram. See what your doctor says on
Wednesday, follow his instructions but give it time. It can take from 4-6
weeks for meds to reach full efficacy. However, when dosage changes, add
a little more time. Good Luck. Hopefully this will be very worth while with
your results. xx
Hi Markrobo - I had similar symptoms too but they did eventually subside. I’m assuming it will be different for everyone but I found I got my appetite and other normal habits back after 6-8weeks. Doctors advised me to try and wait it out and I’m glad I did but it was very tough at times. All the best
Hiya markrono sorry your feeling a little tough right now. Re my personal experience 10mg of citalopram is the lowest dose. Also note it takes 6 weeks to properly get into your system I think your condition is brought on by stress and worry. It’s like a vicious circle. Obviously subconscious we worry about what’s happening. This in turn makes you have no appetite and unable to sleep. Please talk with your Dr.
Good Luck
The start up of ssri’s can increase anxiety and/or depression for many! If you have good family and/or friend support, lean on them. Let them know you are feeling “off.” See if you can get a smoothie or a simple protein drink down, even a chocolate ensure! There are vitamins and minerals that can help you during this time. Often anxious people are low on b’s, magnesium, and Vitamin D, the drink can help until your meds stabilize! Also, “try” to get even just a short walk in, preferably, outside!
This will pass! We are here for you!
