I was diagnosed with anxiety for the first time at 60 after a two year period of stress dealing with getting appropriate care for my stepfather after a series of strokes and supporting my mother who has dementia through this. I developed extreme panic and feelings of terror. I responded to talking therapy and Citalopram but developed severe headaches after 6 weeks. The CPN at my surgery suggested I switch to Fluoxetine and the headaches disappeared but the panicky feelings and anxiety came back after about 5 weeks. I switched back to Citalopram but after 6 weeks no anxiety and my mood has improved but the headaches are back. Can anyone help.

I also take citalopram and get headaches but I put it down to tension from the anxiety. I would say the headaches are every 5 days not constant. If yours are constant it may be worth going back to gp for advise.
