Hi Latic,

I take Mirtazipine at 30mg.

My doctor pointed out that Mirtazipine has a half life of 20–40 hours before it leaves your body. This is longer than some other medication.

The drug has sedating side effects for me so I take it at night at 10:00pm to enable me to get up for work at 7:00am, not too hung over.

Watch out for it's appetite stimulant effects leading to weight gain. I find it's much harder to get the excess weight off than to put it on.

I been taking Mitrazipine now for 3 years at 45mg started at 15mg their very addictive and I found if I forget to take it for a few day I start getting terrible withdrawals. I have put on a bit of weight but for me thats a good thing as I suffer from Achalasia a terrible disease. It has help me so I plan to stick to them.

I’ve resisted upping my dose from 15mg to 30mg as suggested by Dr, mainly due to the appetite increase already mentioned. I put a ton of weight on when I was on it a few years ago. I’ve been on 15mg since August and have found it sufficient to dampen down my anxiety enough for me to cope, with the occasional diazepam if I have to venture out of my comfort zone.

Even on 15mg I do sufffer badly from restless legs some nights, best to take it I think last thing at night before sleeping. Hope it works for you, anxiety is hell. X

I have been on 15 mg of mirtazapine for 10 years now yes it has weight gain with it but I was 108 pounds I needed the weight . I have tried 30 mugs a few times it did not really help I feel better at 15 mg I also take Ativan with it 3 x a day. Mostly at night. I have slot of trouble sleeping. Use to sleep gear on the mirtazapine. For me it has been the best drug. All the SSRI drugs I tried made me very sick. Mirtazapine helped me quite a bit. 10 years and still taking it.

Good luck anxiety sucks!

I agree Karen, I didn’t feel any better on 30 than 15. Today I have driven myself to Brighton, back in August I could barely go out and terrified to drive. Mirtazapine has been my saviour although it did take a longer while to be effective this time, I certainly won’t be coming off it any time soon but a half a diazepam is my back up. I’ve also been taking Magnesium and I do think that has helped as well. Good Luck xx
