Jaw pain

Does anyone get random jaw pain? More importantly does anyone get it but yet it doesn't hurt worse when you chew?

Yeah I get jaw pain on and off more like a shooting pain on one side of jaw but switches side, it’s cause I’ve been tense and clenching my teeth which cause mine.

Mine used to be on the left side but now seems to have settled in the lower right! Do you have piano when chewing? I read that if it's from clenching you'll have pain when eating but chewing doesn't really make mine worse.

No I don’t have pain while chewing, it just comes and go sometimes.

Your TMJ is the joint connecting your jaw to rest f your skull basically. There are ligaments and muscles to pull it back into place every time you chew anything. including gum, and grinding or clenching your teeth. Clenching or grinding your teeth causes pain in the joint and muscles, You can be fitted with a night bite guard to prevent you from clenching or grinding your teeth when you sleep. I've had a rather expensive bite guard that has lasted me over 25 years, But much less expensive ones are available. Mine was fitted by an orthodontist as I was ruining my teeth as well as causing problems with my TMJ. The guard has worked well for me. Never had pain from chewing, but could hear my jaw "pop" when I chewed popcorn and other types of food.

Good luck in your efforts to solve this problem. Some pharmacies have rather inexpensive night guards you might try. If one seems to be helping, you may want to seek a permanent one for an exact fit for you.
