It was cold this morning. As I took my morning walk the darkness disappeared. While walking along the path I noticed something. I looked down and there he was. I said hello, he said nothing, I went on my way. On my way back through I was surprised that he was still there. I looked down and said hello again. He was trying to move but seemed stuck in place. ‘Hello there” I repeated. Nothing back. I realized the cold of the concrete made it difficult for him to move. He tried to reposition and move his legs, but nothing worked.
I am all too familiar with the feeling of being stuck, so I decided to try to help. I tried a leaf with no luck. I tried a few more. Nothing. I went and grabbed something more sturdy from the car. I placed a prayer card underneath him. I took the card and placed it on a rock where more sun seemed to be shining. He sat there and I bid him farewell. I came back a bit later to check on him to find him flying up and on his way. He didn’t sting me, I didn’t hurt him. It all worked out. We all get stuck. Sometimes we just need the warmth to set us free.
