Hi! I'm new to this site so just finding my feet. I've been treated for depression/anxiety for 20 years now. Just got a diagnosis this year of borderline personality disorder. Nice to know i'm not alone and thousands of others have the same thoughts and fears x

Hi! For all ive been in the system with a mental health team for 15 years theyve only just given me a diagnosis. I feel like theyve just put me in a 'box'. X

I had CBT when i was first with a mental health team. I had psychodynamic therapy (still dont really understand how that is different from psychotherapy) i saw a psychologist for a year. Ive been offered some sessions of DBT, but not the recommended amout or full course because of funding...or lack of. Have you?? X

Yeah, its the lack of funding. Its a postcode lottery! I was lucky to be offered the treatment i had but it was all incomplete. Where we live there was a recovery college offering a safe space and craft courses etc to meet other people. They closed it. There is nothing to get involved in our area yet they tell you to push yourself and get involved?!? Loads of people slip through the system. When i had my last episode, my health team said even if i needed to go to hospital i couldnt because there are no beds x shocking.

Ive lived in this area since i was born, so 40 years, ive had a mental health team for 15 years ish and no one mentioned the place to me until a few months ago! Itd been there 20 years. They dont tell you where things are. Apparently there were people who went there who have no other support at all and theyve just been left. As well as it being a postcode lottery, its also very different case by case. Ive made friends who have the same diagnosis who arent offered the same treatment and vice versa. I have a friend who was discharged from the system, despite having been sectioned 3 times and she is actually better off now. She drives to other support groups miles away from where we live. We cant all do that! Its very scary. What ive noticed from other people ive spoken to is that when u get a diagnosis and are in one box, thats when things stop. Very worrying. Xx
