Anxiety coming and going after starting meds

I've been taking citrol for 3 weeks..I've been suffering with anxiety for a good while now..I've had the usual dizziness lightheadedness,ringing ears feeling tense with niggeling pains etc.. Anyways the first 2 weeks the side effects on top off these were horrible,but in week 3 for a few days they subsided a lot ,And just as I was thinking they were starting to work..Wham All symptoms back with a vengeance..Just wondering Is anyone or did anyone else suffer the same when starting meds,and if so does it be a stop start process..

You are not alone. Today is 14 days on 150mg of Zoloft for me. I started at 25mg and titrated up. I have been feeling better but for the last 2 days I have woken up with anxiety again and it is lasting through the morning! I am trying to remind myself that it can take up to 6-8 weeks to stabilize and that my body is still trying to adjust to the med. hang in there!

Hi Allano, as Cares179 said, it can take from 6-8 weeks for the dosage to reach efficacy levels. However, it takes more than taking medication for meds to work. This is the time to work with a therapist or by yourself in using other methods to bring down your anxiety levels. Medicine is not the complete answer. The answer is within us. The meds are just a bridge to help us get through the difficult thoughts and symptoms. Wish you well, don't give up, it does get better.
