Dying
I think a lot of people are scared of death. We don't know what the future hold but you could live to about 80 or 90 years old all them years you wasted worried about death when you were 51 years old. Live for now don't worries you self of what might happen your here now enjoy your life and your family.
No, deanharrison, you are not going nuts and neither are you going to die and leave your children fatherless. When we suffer from anxiety our nervous system can become over sensitive through stress and worry. When that happens all our minor fears and worries become exaggerated ten times over. Small concerns that normally wouldn't bother us become unsummountable problems. Everybody has the normal instinct to avoid death but in some cases such as your goodself your sensitised nervous system has magnified this into an obsessive fear of dying.
The way to overcome this 'strange idea' is to just accept it, don't keep fighting it and stressing over it (that only causes more fear which continues to keep your jangled nerves over sensitive). Just accept the strange thought of dying for the moment knowing exactly why it has occured and, more importantly, knowing full well you are not going to die. Then eventually the thought about dying will fade away.
But it's worth thinking over what pressures in your life have caused this anxiety disorder? Problems at work? Problems in the family? Money problems? And when you have identified the original cause take steps to put them right, taking the advice of someone you trust if need be.
