Hi there, I've seen many psych nurses over the years and I must admit I like them more than the doctors. They just seem so much more interested in what you need to say and have a lot more time for you.
Here in the U.K. The nurses are seen more than the psych doctors, the doctors make so many judgements on your appearance and chat to you only briefly, often leading to them making the wrong decisions about your best way forward regarding treatment etc.
Put it this way the psych doctors here took 25 years to give me an official diagnosis. Please don't be nervous I promise you most of the nurses are more thorough and understanding
Take care
Jk
I haven't seen a psychiatric NP, but I do like the physician's assistant better than my regular medical doctor and I arrange to see her instead whenever possible. I agree that they can often be more understanding.
