all hydroxy does is make you super sleepy, which has some merit: if you're asleep you're probably not panicking. Better than nothing. It's just an antihistamine stronger than Benadryl. doesn't help you live regular life tho when you need to be alert, like working. that's what they give you when they don't want to give out benzos because they are afraid you will get addicted.
Have you asked the DR for a change? I went thru a few before I settled on one. I had Lexapro but stopped due to the weight gain it brings.. I had Effexor XR and that I was forced to stop cold turkey and it was miserable. I got really sick for two weeks and it was while I was on vacation. Then I had Cymbalta.. It actually made me not eat at all. I was yawning constantly but not tired oddly enough. It made me feel better but in a "loopy" way. I stayed with Cymbalta. Just try changing meds and almost "experiment" to see what works best.
I switch doctors the other one i was seeing gave me the hydroxzyine and before those i was taken ativan they worked good for me, but he took them away, now those dont really work yes they help me sleep but i keep waking up in the middle of the night alot, so i'm guessing they dont work, i found a new doctor today and he gave me 2 prescription one is xanax and the other zoloft, i will take those to the pharmacy tomorrow, maybe those will work better i'm just scared of the side affects.
I'm so sorry it took me forever to respond. I couldn't get logged back in for some reason. Anyway, I hope you are doing well now. If Ativan worked, you should ask your new doctor for it. Tell the DR that you've had it previously and it did a good job. Don't allow them to tell you what works. You know your body and what you are comfortable with. I had Xanax and didn't like it. How are you now? I'm not bipolar but I do have two friends who are and they are doing fine as long as they take their meds.
IM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO I LOOK LIKE CRAP AND FEEL LIKE CRAP EACH AND EVERY DAY IS GETTING HARDER TO NIGHT I CRY I BELTCH NON STOP I GOT HIT IN THE FACE YEARS AGO I HAD A BROKEN NOSE I FIXED MY SELF TWO BLACK EYES THE DARKNESS NEVER REALY WENT AWAY IM A JOKE TO THESE DOCTORS

If I were u id try zoloft, it has really helped me. I'm so so scared of taking medicine and I feared the worst side effects. But zoloft didn't give me any. It took some time for them to work though, but that's every antidepressant, it's how they work.
My friend tried xanax but she got awful nausea and vomiting so she stopped.

Everyone is different. Like probably most of us here I am also scared of new meds. I tried Zoloft and it had bad side effects for me but most folks I know that have taken it have really liked it. It will just take a week or so to be at its best . I personally have never heard of anyone having trouble with Xanax until now, but again, we are all different. Xanax is very similar to Ativan in that they are in the same class of drugs, so if you don't have a bad reaction to Ativan you are probably in good shape with Xanax. I say this as a regular person with anxiety. I have zero medical training. If you can start your Zoloft and then use Xanax as needed for anxiety that would be great. In the meantime Xanax is a life saver for me, even in small doses. Exactly 20 minutes after taking one I am calm. Not buzzed (.25mg), just "regular" and not panicking. Have you started either yet?
