Recently diagnosed with all the symptoms of anxiety ....suffered with it unknowingly all of my life. Now I feel desperately lonely, and being told by close relative I am Bi Polar.

Hi Kippi & Welcome

I really am not sure if anxiety is related to Bi polar , but if the GP has said you are suffering with anxiety I would believe them

Its awful when we have anxiety & someone like a relative , which I imagine is not a professional ,put other ideas in our heads as anxiety on its on can play enough tricks on our minds , without someone else adding to them

If you are overly worried , ask you GP , I have a feeling they will say no or they would have picked it up when they told you that you had anxiety , but it may give you peace of mind

Keep talking on here as I am sure you will relate to everyone & then you will not feel so alone

Thank you for prompt reply. I will research further & check with GP. I am just carrying enough and really don't need more . Kippi

I would just ask your GP , I am sure they are the best to answer , even though I doubt it , but you are right , anxiety is enough to cope with , why do others seem to think they no better than the professionals :-/

I tend not to do my own research as my anxiety will always focus on the negatives I read ;)

Keep talking on here , it does help :)

There definitely is. Bipolar is a manic-depressive disorder which means that one switches from being depressed to being manic if that makes sense. And when you've got Anxiety you tend to be more depressed, i'd say. I'm not an expert tho :) xxx

Hello Kippi and welcome to the anxiety forum. I can only reinforce what Whywhy has said!! Us sufferers of anxiety are already in a vulnerable state, as the anxiety tends to cloud all the real issues and hinders logical thought processes as to the root causes of one problems. As your GP has diagnosed anxiety, at this stage I would stick with that!! That is enough to cope with on its own. Personally I would avoid any "googling" of different conditions as you will be hit by so much information it will serve at best, to confuse, and at worst, convince you (incorrectly!) there are other things wrong. I would personally ignore the (however well meant:-) ) advice of your relative, and stay with the (medical expert ) diagnosis of your GP. Bi-Polar does certainly involve mood swings from incredible "highs" to extreme "lows" and vice-versa, and the lows may well affect anxiety levels. However I will admit, I am certainly no expert either so need to discuss with GP and heed his advice.

Very best of luck, and remember you are always amongst friends here!! - Mallet-Head

I'm def on board with this one.

If Dr thought possibility of of bi-polar he would have told you or asked for you to be tested for it.

Stick with the anxiety but ask Dr if you still unsure.

We all here to talk to and share and give advise.

I am new here too

Love babyhippo. Xx xx

With bipolar you tend to get mood swings. You deviate from being extremely high and manic to very low in mood, sometimes nearly catatonic. There is medication that can help. Speak to your GP and tell them your symptoms, because there is a difference between the two. It is rare with BP patients to be low all the time

Thank you ...Will do. Hope you are OK

One more thing please don't google your symptoms. It will only make you feel worse. Most of us are trying to do a no googling health sites, would you like to join. Have a good weekend, if you need any more help just ask. Take care

Thank you .... I am taking one day at a time right now, and find this site useful reading. However its always easier to assist some one with their issues rather than face ones own. I have googled and not found it a problem, but I do know what you mean, the strange thing is I feel ok about myself, I am a good hider of anxiety, yet it runs rampant in me, and has become the norm, to tell some one is so hard for me. I am a people pleaser type. Yet anxiety has helped me in so many ways.

I hope you have a good weekend too.
