does anyone know if lavender scents really help with anxiety? ive been thinking about incorporating it into my life. also, does anyone know how to cope whenever i’m tremoring and shaking and i do usually throw up when i have anxiety attack. how do i calm down when im in that state??

Hi anxioussti, I've yet to find a lavender scent that pleases my senses. So I keep
looking. As for your shaking and trembling, it depends what's causing it. Of course
anxiety and stress can cause our over sensitized nervous system to go into high gear.
Once that happens, it can help to find a quiet spot and do some deep breathing.
That will help release the over abundance of adrenaline which can cause these symptoms
you are experiencing. To keep you safe, it is always best to present this to your doctor
and let his knowledge of your health history address the issue. xx
Lots of different aromatherapy scents can support relaxation including lavender.The key to using them is in the length of time you smell them , as using them too long or using them in your bedroom can stimulate your brain and reduced your ability to get to sleep according to a study that looked at how scents can change your heart rate.
The researcher's concluded that using a scent like lavender , chamomile or others for 15-20 minutes would help relieve stress and reduce the heart rate to a normal relaxed level in anxiety or during palpitations.
But , if the scent was left in the space and participants kept inhaling them within 30-45 people's heart rates were stimulated again even if the scents were known to have relaxing properties.
The conclusions were that aromatherapy can be a successful therapy in calming physical and mental symptoms if they were used during a short breathing and mindfulness exercise , or during a bath an hour before bed , but it was better to remove strong smelling candles , oil burners or fragrances from a room that you would then spend a lot of time in or rest in to maintain your relaxation and heart rate improvement.
Bedrooms and bed linens should smell clean but without a strong scent or fragrance free.
They also suggested that it was better to inhale a scent from a diffuser or a few drops on a piece of cloth rather than rubbing a strong smelling oil on your neck or wrists so you could control the effects and get more benefit from it in short bursts. Including advising people to spray perfume onto a removable scarf or a collar instead of on the skin so it is easier to remove or washing off fragrances at the end of the day.
This can be very helpful for people whom get palpitations, physical feelings of anxiety, sleeplessness or headaches and migraines as some of their symptoms with lots of different health problems not just mental health ones.
I started taking lavender bubble baths and find them to be very relaxing.
