Come one, come all. Welcome to our little corner of the Internet. I suffer from rather pedestrian depression. Whatever the case, the folks in these parts are quite nice. Thus, I am glad you’ve reached out.

Welcome to the community.

Benzos work so well but there is that risk of dependence. I tapered slowly down on my dose and I found even a small dosage decrease was quite symptomatic. I hope to get off completely someday.

Best of luck to you. We are glad you are here

Hi Doglove24,Welcome to your forum.

It's your safe place to ex change care and support, photos, sketches and lovely memes about mental health.

I am glad that you have gotten off the addictive benzos.

From my experience,

the work to tackle your mental illness, it's symptoms and impacts on your life, go better with antidepressants and therapy together.

Self care, the things you can do for yourself, are just as important.

Since you are in USA, I recommend visiting the ADAA website for some local resources.

Wishing you all the best on your recovery journey

well I can relate and I’m sure the worst isn’t over for me. I’ve been dealing with Major Depression for 5 months. My Dr put me on a long acting anti anxiety med to get me off Xanax that I have been taking for the anxiety. Although it’s been an amazing difference, I can only stay on it another week and then she has to take me off it slowly. This was given to me to give me a chance to start therapy and settle down from my job loss. I’m sure it’s going to be difficult to handle the anxiety again.

The depression is crippling and I’m sorry you’re suffering. Do you get out of the house at all? Mine got so bad I barely left my bed. I’m leaving house some now but I’m also on the klonipin which is helping make everything better….

I don’t get out and can’t drive due to bad eyes. I have physical conditions now making it worse too. The rehab place said they’d wean me off of Xanax, but they didn’t . I didn’t do well so I had to go to a mental facility . I received some ECT treatments - it was awful . I’ve only been offered lexapro, a non addictive anxiety med that never worked before and lunesta . What is the long acting anxiety medication, Thor1467 ? Thank you for chatting with me and sharing.

The anxiety meds Ive always been given are Hydroxyzine and Buspar....they dont do much but they do take a bit of the edge off.

I work 7 days a week. I could not do this w/o taking my anti-depressants/anyi-anxiety and ADHD meds. It’s not a dependency. I have a mental illness and these meds help me function.

I agree but one doctor said I needed to not take Xanax so they give me antidepressants only!
