It may have been there before covid, but if it was it was very well hidden. I have two great kids, son and daughter. One was a senior during Covid, and the other was in 10th grade. We will start with seniors story. Needless to say no senior year enjoyment, and then went off to college and his first year in college, he might as well have been incarcerated. Could not leave their dorm, even had to take their meals in their dorm, and their classes, etc.. Move on to sophomore year, covid restrictions, lifted, kids gone wild, which is to be expected. But what we didn’t expect is my son‘s reaction to trying to keep up with all the pressures of keeping his straight days and trying to socialize, he experimented with drugs, recreation, and to help keep up. Didn’t work out well. He called us half way thru and said he could do it, he was very, very scared. we didn’t understand, but we dropped everything and went to get him. I don’t know if I had ever heard my son cry since he was young. He was in a very deep depression, anxiety. We did not make him go back. It took months for me to find help, and I was on the phone. Every day, there was a waiting list at his college for help, and I put ourselves on so many other waiting list for Doctors ,therapist , and psychiatrist. they were so busy. So many people needed help now, it was mine boggling. we went through a few therapist, before we found the one we have now, And the psychiatrist. Sadly, just go straight to the meds, been trying to find holistic, that seems to be nonexistent where we are. so I am looking for support groups, for young people , I can’t find that at all. Our therapist has been looking, I have been looking, We live north of Atlanta in Georgia. If you know of any holistic or support groups. Thank for your help.

Hi bobo9876 I'm so sorry for all your son has gone through. Covid really took

everyone by surprise and shock, affecting our young people.

We may not be doctors or therapists but do have a worldwide support group.

Many young people, 18 and up, are on our forum.

We may also be a good outlet for you as many of us parents need just as much

support, helping our young adults during these difficult times.

I will keep my ears open for any holistic practices for young adults.

There may be others on this site who will be able to help. Wishing you and your

son answers soon. :) xx

Have you tried NAMI National Alliance on Mental Illness at Nami.org? They have teen and young adult resources. They offer support groups both in person and online.
