Today is the day that I've been dreading for months....the move out of our building at work to a temporary location until the first of next year when a new leased location will be available. For many of us here, this has been our second home for over 20 years...our baby so to speak as I work in facilities and we've taken care of this building and our employees like family.
In addition, my husband and I are a little over half way done rebuilding our deck and are set for a much needed vacation the end of this month. A one week cruise in Alaska.
The anticipation of it all has had my nerves in overdrive. The aches and pains, muscle tension and random tingling here and there are driving me nuts. I went to my doctor a few weeks ago and my bloodwork was all normal. Still, anxiety and stress make my health anxiety crazy. It's a vicious circle but I have to keep pushing through so I do.

Hi Grandma, I am sorry that all of this change and events have you anxious. As anxiety is close to excitement I like to try the positive reframing. "Of course I am anxious about moving to a new building. I am settled in here and feel very comfortable. I am also excited about a fresh change though, where I may interact with new people and change my routine" or "Of course I am anxious about getting the deck done. It is expensive and a big anxious project and we can only hope the weather will cooperate. I am excited for a new, fresh deck though! It is a tough project but will be worth it."
I am still trying to do school online and I often feel bad I don't do more, but I remember why I am doing it (try to afford a home for my family). Sorry, I don't know if any of this helps. I like acceptance therapy though. Instead of feeling like I am pushing through things I feel more peace. There is a book called "Get out of your mind and into your life" by Steven Hayes that I enjoy. He talks about a war going on in our minds, but we actually don't have to even enter the battlefield. I admire that you are pushing through. I wish you peace, hope, strength and the ability to relax and enjoy the journey.
Hang in there Grandma. Bitter sweet on the office but hopefully you’ll have a nicer one. And exciting your deck is coming together. And a cruise. Focus on those pluses, and take some deep breath meditation breaks. The anxiety monster is trying to just mess with your good vibes. Just take time for meditation and even mindfulness when you feel the tingling and the physical sensations. Good vibes up.
